TheFish Posted August 7, 2023 Visiting Supporter Share Posted August 7, 2023 Supercomputers are used for decoding DNA, or nuclear fusion research. They're not used for predicting football tables. They're just doing recent form, aren't they? I know Newcastle don't have the depth to compete, so I'd be surprised if we finished in the top 4 again.
Don_Simon
I've just seen that I started this topic! I have no recollection of this. Was big ballin' in Belgrade at the time and had just watched the game on my phone, in a bar, on a street the locals call "Silicon Valley", due to the amount of silicon implants in the female population. Based on the above, it's going to happen.

I saw one that had us finish 3rd We're being set up for failure. I honestly don't think so. People get genuinely excited. I don't think it's fake or cynical, in most cases. I totally understand why some people feel the need to manage expectations and not get carried away etc., sometimes as a defense against disappointment, but there are naturally some people -- and I'm one -- who can imagine it happening with great clarity and real emotional force, and I know for myself, that's it's just minor shortcoming that I've just grown used to in myself and don't try to fight it and at the same time don't take it too seriously, either. One thing I can say with certainty: The outcome will be what the outcome will be.

The Guardian Football Weekly boys have us: Troy Townsend - 4th Lars Sivertsen - 8th Barry Glendenning - 7th ("They'll be better than last season, but in the same spot") Max Rushden - 6th I can't remember this sort of across the board praise before. We're destined to finish 14th I'd take any of those (not 14th) as long as we're progressing to the latter stages of all the cups we're in. Ideally a final and winning one of them. Does winning the FA Cup get you Europa League?

If 5th place in the league ends up as a Champions League spot, then England lose the 5th place Europa League entry. This EL spot doesn't go further down the league so no extra spaces in Europe. So it seems we end up with no EL spot qualifying through the league (depending on who wins the cups). The Premier League website says otherwise: "Qualification for the two other UEFA competitions, the Europa League and Europa Conference League, will follow the same protocols as in previous years, albeit if the fifth spot qualifies for the Champions League, the Europa League spot will go to the team finishing sixth." What’s new in 2023/24: Extra Champions League place (premierleague.com)
