100% agree.  In terms of the bit in bold - the off-field success at the 76ers I think gives us some clues about not just what he will try and do but also how good he has been at it before.  I also like that in the video he called out a couple of things that they didn't get right and also where they lucked out.  But what I liked is that he didn't mind getting something wrong (and then fixing it) because they were trying something different (a bit like Bazball - to win you have to be prepared to lose the odd game).  I also liked how he and his team spotted a couple of things that they hadn't come up with but that worked and so they found a way of encouraging / exploiting that without taking ownership of it.  His ideas might not work here - but a bit like appointing an elite manager or an elite sporting manager, it feels like we're trying to "go big" and take the bold route rather than playing it nice and safe and sticking to what we know.

Renaming a certain stand would go a hell of a long way...

Out of likes but I’m with you. Gosh it’s such exciting times 🤣 Mainly with Unai here but there’s even more than that to be positive about!

I really don’t see this as a false dawn, we’ve kind of suffered in our recent history and fallen from grace. Made a hell of a lot of mistakes too! When we’ve shown any promise or progress, we’ve had setbacks or failed to take advantage of opportunities.

I believe things are going to be different now, I really do.

Mainly because of our manager and the freedom and control he is being given. But our owners have been excellent ever since they arrived too.

I will say I am delighted that we are finally bringing in people who are obsessed with attention to details. We've had so many chancers running important jobs here and it's been sch a bad advantage to give up.

With Heck, Emery and Monchi I feel extremely confident that very little that we can control will be missed or ignored. Good stuff.

I’ve just watched that 45 minute video from Heck, and got to say that I was really impressed. He’s a great public speaker, and it was fascinating. I found myself agreeing with everything he was saying. I was not happy about the badge situation, but after watching that I now totally get it. I’m excited.

Where can we watch it please?

One of my concerns with Heck, is does he have a familiarity with English football, and if he doesn't, will this deficiency be a problem from time to time? I do not want any American  razzmatazz in our branding/promotional/match day experience.

As part of the Fan Advisory Board, MOMS, met with Heck this week to get his thoughts on the decision and more.

The legacy shirt sponsors BK8 and Trade Nation were before Heck’s involvement, but it is understood he’s not too impressed with the deals, in terms of their lack of scope in providing a partnership to give the club global reach.

The badge though is the big talking point. The new badge that was created under Purslow will be rolled out on the shirts, but held back from any other branding. In short, Heck isn’t too impressed by the potential of the badge and its lack of uniqueness compared to the rest of the Premier League.

While the badge is fine on a 7/10 kind of level, Heck and the owners are very much looking at the big picture. It is not exactly differentiating the club as unique or special to a potential new international fanbase.

Heck stated in the meeting he wanted to see how the badge was received over the season, before making any moves. The fact that the North Stand rebuild hasn’t started yet, perhaps has influenced the decision. After all, if you had to do a full rebrand now, you would have to refit the current North Stand with all it’s offices, hospitality and concourses etc, only to then demolish it. That’s a serious wasted outlay.

Yup, same. The job might be similar but it will need a totally different feel for it work. I'm hopeful he gets that. Then again getting us to grow globally is one job and getting more people invested locally is a totally different job that will need different solutions and approaches.

I imagine most? many? a lot of? European football fans need to concentrate really hard not to projectile vomit when FIFA & UEFA do their Super Bowl light spectacle at big finals theses days. But maybe people from other parts of the world likes that sh1t?

I totally get the way Heck is acting. The badge had nothing to do with him and if he isn’t happy with it, it would be crazy to rebrand the whole ground with it just to change it a year later.  I get it probably hasn’t been communicated and handled as well as some would like but I’m confident things will come good.

FWIW I don’t mind the new badge but it is a bit basic. The old badge stood out more.

Quite amazed by the turnaround this guy has managed. A few days ago when sponsors and the new shirt design was released, dual badge-gate, a lot of people (myself included) was instantly thinking he started out with a complete mess.

Some days later, a meeting with the Fan Advisory Board, and he has managed to turn the whole story around already. Now comments on here and the villa podcasts I’m listening in on, are hailing his sound decision to dial the big release a big down and get time to do his thing.

Seems like a guy who can really build community and momentum, I’m all on board 😀

I want half time cheerleaders, twerk contests and pickleball competetions!

Yep, bobbing for apples also and Heck awarding someone with a goldfish in a clear bag.

I expect to see better partnerships, better financial sponsor packages, more prestigious partners, better branding and global appeal under this guy!

Absolutely, I’m really looking forward to see what this guy can do. Could be the best appointment we’ve ever made in that department, a specialist on the commercial and marketing side. I expect a lot of fan engagement too.

He is essentially taking over from Purslow (going off comments in the podcast) and  is apparently already familiar with a few people in those PL meetings.

Did no on ask him about The North Stand at this presentation he gave?

It wasn't a presentation, more a hello prior to the kit announcement - he was in what looked to be the front room of an apartment he'd just moved into, it was hastily arranged at nine o'clock at night and it wasn't really a question and answer thing, he just sort of introduced himself and gave the group a feel of what he was about - nothing formal - just a chat.

Within that, I came away feeling that he knew what he wanted and he knows what he's doing - anything more specific will come from the next proper meeting.
