Yes a club the size and stature of Luton should be going for Harvey Barnes, Gallagher, Zaha and McTominnay.

Why bother at all though they might aswell just retain if they got no ambition.

Just don't get signings like Chong who is championship level at best.

Pocket the money and live the dream  Don't bother going half hearted.

What he is is a player who signs a 5 year deal and stays there for most of it regardless of what league they're in, good enough for the championship still a bit of potential for the PL, if they yo yo he yo yos with them

Can't buy 11 players like that but at the same time they can't buy 11 internationals who they won't see for dust should they go down

Forest would have been in huge trouble if they'd have gone down

They've been making signings like this throughout their rise through the leagues. Players people don't think are good enough, and yet somehow they end up being just that.

Luton's transfers got relegation written all over it.

Chong???

With Luton I think they know they're coming straight back down but important they keep their identity/DNA and continue building the squad in that image. They'd be trying to sign some of these guys if they'd lost the play off final but the extra money is helping.

It's pretty similar strategy to what Burnley did when they first came up in 2014. Went straight back down but they then came up with a squad ready to compete and stayed up for six years

They'll turn over a few teams given what a hole Kenilworth Road is and finish on about 25 points.

Sheffield United are far more concerning if you're a fan of them. Turmoil with the ownership and they've barely signed anyone and talk of N'Diaye leaving so that would be a waste of a promotion if things don't change in next six weeks.

Tell me the brilliant players Sheffield United have signed? Even Burnley haven't really signed anyone experienced and have Andros Townsend currently training who's been injured for 18 months.

Luton did actually try to get in Ashley Young but he decided to go to Everton, think Heaton was going there until De Gea suddenly left and Begovic been linked so they will sign 2-3 experienced prem players before end of window based on that, Nakamba will probably sign full time in the end and that's realistically the best they can attract.

They had all of Snodgrass, Lansbury and Cameron Jerome part of their squad in last two seasons so not like they just sign anyone under 25.

£105 million for Rice is, pound for pound, the worst big money signing of all time. (Theres an argument for Coutinho to Barcelona I suppose but he was amazing at Liverpool)

That is just an insane amount for a good, slightly above average footballer. This is a signing for the Games Gone thread.

West Ham confirmed rice has gone

Not convinced by their signings or numbers but Arsenal have undoubtedly got better this summer

Will be interesting to see make up of Arsenal midfield now.

I'm guessing Rice-Havertz-Odegaard?!

Rice's big strength is his positioning out of possession and he's going to need all of that knowledge when they go to Anfield and Man. City as looks a very easy midfield to cut through.

Amusing everyone was saying he should be played as an 8, 0% of that happening at Arsenal this season given they're selling Partey aswell.

Inter, along with Brighton and Wet Span looking at Emil Holm now besides Juve. Possibly not the RB profile we are after but I'd still be interested at having him at Villa.

Not convinced by Arteta or Arsenal, wouldn't be surprised to see them struggle for top 4 if it wasn't for how average Chelsea, Utd and Spurs look right now.

Would definitely say the same last season but think these 3 signings give them depth and options, if timber is good then that's huge for the, probably the most important signing of the 3
