Marka Ragnos Posted April 10, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted April 10, 2023 I didn't realise that the balls used in professional matches are different from the ones I see kids kicking around in the local park. Does the ball make that much of a difference? Who buys balls like this? Quote The legendary ball used for matches or training. Have balls changed a lot in your lifetime? Why aren't the classic Telstar style used today since they look so beautiful? What's your favorite ball? What are some ball trends you love or hate? Do you have a Villa ball? Do you remember getting hit in the head by a rain-soaked ball in the old days? Does it help to practice with training balls or smaller-sized balls? Do you want to see cameras and microchips in balls? Balls, balls, balls, balls.
Kuwabatake Sanjuro
Maybe my favourite as it was the first football design that really stood out as special for me
Popular Post ferguson1
Adidas Tango ball for me. 1982, 86 and 90 World Cups especially. Bought a replica 82 ball on the annual family holiday to Spain when I was about eight and was the envy of my friends when I got back.

Newry_Villan
The footballs that my kids are kicking about now are poor quality conpared to the one's (mitre deltas at all) that I kicked around when I was a kid. Official balls are like £100 or something like that like? They're like the kits, gotta a cheap version and player version.
Lichfield Dean Posted April 10, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted April 10, 2023 Yeah, it was all about the Mitre Delta when I was growing up.

VillaJ100
Yeah my Sunday league team a few years back had a couple of replica match balls and they were about £80 a pop.
TheAuthority Posted April 11, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2023 There's a twitter account called lost footballs. It's quite nostalgic 1
LondonLax
Not so much nice but remember the controversy (especially from the Nike players) around this ball
villan-scott Posted April 11, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted April 11, 2023 I love a classic football like the Mitre Ultimatch. Scored a hat trick in the last game of a season as a kid so the coach let me keep the Ultimatch ball, so still got that in my mums loft somewhere. This season there has been 3 different Premier League balls which I think is a first, but definitely them playing off the fact kids love a new football and a Premier League replica one too. My lad has 2 of the 3, so it clearly works! [/url]

Best part about these balls was when you went for a header, you either made great contact with your forehead only for the whole ball to mold itself to the shape of your face and just "flumpf" to the floor with no power at all or you would go for a header and not quite make it and a piece of stray leather would skim across your forehead taking a large chunk of skin with it. best balls ever (apart from the Mitre ones)
leemond2008
Off topic a little bit but whenever a match is on and someone plays a nice pass and the commentator says "that's a lovely ball" my old man will 99% of the time say "its a round one" 1

mottaloo
Tsk !! You kids know nothing ! Along with 1970 adidas black and white world cup ball, this mitre badboy was a thing of beauty as it rotated in 1980 :
