Top 6? No. Top 8? Probably no. Top 10? Sure we can. After next Saturday, we don't have to play the top two teams again.

Totally, no reason to think that Emery hasn't learned anything from these losses. In fact I'd put money on us having another great run like the 16 points from 8 games.

We were a bit rabbit in the headlights first half, Martinez could do better with the first maybe and we coud defend the second better. The **** ref was terrible and that penalty was a joke. We can't read much into us having the good spell second half really as they had dropped into first gear at 3-0. That said Duran looks promising, Moreno and Coutinho worked very well together a few times they linked up really nicely, Konsa was class apart from the rash tackle after he'd carried the ball up the pitch and lost it. We missed Mings at the back a lot.

All in all, not a great way to spend 90 mins watching that 😉 in the grand scheme of things though, more valuable lessons and onwards and upwards.

Someone posted a while ago that it was a good time to play Man City. It was crazy, it's clearly one of the worst times.

You're playing the best team in the league, with the best squad depth who know if they beat you they go close to their rival who they play that week.

On top of that they've just been given a massive chip on their shoulder and their delusional fans are riled up to shout how much they aren't cheats.

Was never going to happen today.

We as a fan base do enjoy having problems though don’t we? it’s far more exciting to be angry and miserable !!

Deluding yourself won't help.

Villa needs a full clear out again. It's not going to be quick and it's not going to be easy to recruit a group of real proven winners. We couldn't even get a single 1 in the last window and you've got people on here thinking we'll put a whole squad together in the summer.

We all need to wake up to reality at some stage.

We screwed up big time in January. If we'd gone out and signed a couple of big players like other teams did (say Guendouzi and Thuram) we'd be able to drop some of these feckless players. As it happens we had a very disappointing window and the club has probably given up a potential top half finish as a result.

For the next game I'd bring in Moreno for Digne, Mings for Chambers, Cash for Young, Coutinho for Buendia, McGinn for Ramsey, and Duran for Bailey. We need to freshen up the side because currently it ain't delivering. When those five subs were made we actually looked like we might do something today so it's worth seeing what they can do from the start against Arsenal.

We can't keep gifting sides goals.

First goal - Martinez blew it (gotta cover your near post, but he was static)

Second goal - Chambers blew it

Third goal - Ramsey blew it

Of all teams, Man City do not need gifts. Yes we played better 2nd half but the game was already over.

As stated previously game was over after the first half. However, City taking their foot off the gas in the second shouldn’t gloss over another poor performance.

7 goals conceded in the last two games is something that shouldn’t be ignored.

Yes Mings was missed. City don’t score their first goal if Mings had been playing but Villa’s midfield were totally overrun.

Not sure Emery got his tactics right? A bit naive for an experienced manager to go two up top at the Etihad although he will have learned much from the game who he can trust and who he can’t.

The back four that started the game will probably not be there next season and neither will the starting midfield apart from Kamara who looks as though he needs benched for a few games.

The only plus from the game today was Duran who when he bulks up will be an absolute monster.

Wake up to reality.

You can’t have a clear out again at some point the fan base have to accept that it takes time to build a successful squad. We have the basics and we have a top coach. Why do we have to buy a team of proven winners? Why do people not trust our proven coach to develop the players we have. We have managed to unload a number of so called shit players in the last few years that have gone on to be very successful elsewhere. As far as a winter transfer window goes it’s very difficult to buy major players and no one involved in any club (except Forest) would expect to buy a whole squad in a single window..

Deluded ? Some are.

Marinez got his hand to the ball on their first goal, he would be the first to tell you he should have done better, but in his defense, it was pretty remarkable to get there at all.  Also on the first goal, Kamara got screened off his man by several well placed "picks" .  He needs to fight through that better, but for me, Young was most at fault.  When you are marking space, you have to look for the danger and more, he did neither.  What truly pissed me off, was Shitty ran the exact same play on a later corner on the same side.  Only a poor touch by them prevented it from being 2 on the exact same errors, repeated.

Third goal was also Young's fault.  He's been great recently, today he wasn't.  Maybe a rest would help him?

Grealish was fouled, but he also drug his leg to draw that foul.  It was a foul and an PK was a good call, but it always annoyed me when he did it as "our f-ing, cheating, diver" it bothers me even worse when he's somebody else's "f-ing, cheating, diver."

Chamburs not up to the challenge today, (neither was ashley young)

Luiz probably MOTM, but I gave it to Duran, because it was so encouraging to see somebody who seriously wanted to attack and get at their defence.  Take a bow, son.

It's not about him, again, it's the players. They have shown they're not capable of playing his style of football. He's a very good coach, but look at the best coaches in football and look at the players at their disposal. Emery will achieve nothing with the squad we currently have. It's just not possible in this ruthless league where teams will cheat and steal and overspend.

Look at our team on paper and tell me it's capable of a top 10 finish. There's a reason we've consistently finished bottom half, even with one of the best players in the league - very few of the rest were/are capable of competing at that level.

Sure. Apart from the 2 we did get.

Let's not throw everything out the pram after losing to the (2nd) best side in the league. We'll have another good run this season after these couple of games and this summer will significantly strengthen.

Yes! Get in! Relief. At the end of the day a 1-1 draw with SG and no thrashing in the reverse game at the Etihad is a relief outcome. It could have been a hell of a lot worse. But then again, when are we finally going to beat these Fockers again in the league?! It really has been too long. So mixed feelings.
