Good?

It’s probably been our best window in decades.

2 huge immediate upgrades to the first team (Pau and Diaby)

3 internationals to provide stiff competition to the starters (Tielemans, Zaniolo and Lenglet)

Nearly all of the fringe players shipped out (hopefully Coutinho as well) for large fees leaving plenty of FFP and squad space for January and future windows with the ability to buy back Archer and Ramsey if they really kick on.

100% agree - it's been an excellent window.

We might still get a surprise today too, we don't know.

Coutinho is the reason why I think we could still be looking for an attacking signing.

Why is the deal being talked about as something that could be done today when, if we’re not signing anyone else, it doesn’t need to be?

The Qatari window is open for at least another week so no urgency from their side.

He still has ongoing issues with his achilles. He admitted in an interview that it's really messed his development up both physically and mentally... Plus he's on 120k a week at Chelsea so the risk isn't so small when you add that in to his £5m fee.

That is a small risk in 2023 that’s 17m for 2 years of ownership

Surely Cash, Konsa and Chambers are going to be the options. I think signing Lenglet shows we're committing to using Konsa at RB.

I’m thinking of an actual right back though. If it means waiting for the right kind of deal I can live with that but we need a solution that gives Cash competition. Chambers isn’t the solution either. But we can at least cover the issue in the short term.

He's not the solution long term, but we can re-asses in January.

It's small risk for a player whose hasnt had a spate of injuries. He's had a lot of Injuries/niggles all related to the ruptured achllies he suffered back in 2019 so more than just a small risk... Looks like he's signing for Forest anyway.

Fully agree. I don’t dislike Chambers and will support him when he plays, just that long term we will upgrade. I can live without us having another specialist right back this window.

Selling Coutinho might be just to help with wages for Lenglet.

The 75% we are paying is still a decent amount I think ?

I thought loan wages were pretty irrelevant for FFP but there's better experts on that in the forum

I was thinking that until recently but considering how we use our RB I'm quite happy for Konsa to be the main man there. I'm less convinced by Cash doing the role but I think those 2 with Chambers is fine for now.

So is that it then? Lenglet in, 2 more out?

No backup GK or RB? 😬

I'm not sure why anyone thought we were signing a RB or backup GB. It's been pretty clear for a while that Emery is happy with our options in both areas. If we are to make another signing after Lenglet then I'd predict it will be an attacker

Would imagine we'll pay up his contract at some stage unless he's got years left? I assume he signed a new one in perhaps 2020 so might just have 12 months to run so we pay him up like Wes.

He'd be o.k for someone like Luton but guess he'll end up in championship.

30 June 2025 according to transfermarkt… 😬
