Jadon Sancho available for £45m.

Would rather we went for him instead of Barnes.

Sancho for £45m would be good… £35m would be a steal. I think he’d do very well here

I actually think Sancho could do very well in our formation. Like you say, I’d rather have him than Barnes.

Dont want any other Leicester players.

I think Unai would get a good tune  out of him. As you say £35m would be a steal. Stumbling block would be wages, we'd need to make him the second highest earner in the club (after Digne of course), pay in excess of £200k maybe.

This I agree with. I’d be surprised if there isn’t someone in Spain who couldn’t do what Sancho does at half the cost.

Agree with this and your previous post - I think  he'd  be good, but sure we can find better value

I think its part of the reason we appointed Monchi, to find value, quality and potential rather than waste millions on fees and wages for overrated, overpriced, ineffective players. To work with Unai again, on this kind of strategy.

We’re going to scour the globe for players, not just sign local “names”…

Wages are more of a killer than transfer fees these days, we need to have intelligence and nous in the market. It’s important to find value and high potential.

The last thing we need is to burden the club w financial hits and losses, it’s not worth the risk.

It’s only worth paying high wages if the player is going to be effective and make a major contribution.

I’ve never liked the idea that our club becomes some sort of rehab facility for overrated, overrated, has been players. We don’t need that burden. We’ve suffered badly in that sense in our recent history too, we need to learn from those lessons..

But I have complete trust in Unai, if he believes he can elevate and get the best out of a player… I’m all for it.

He has the power, so there’s much less concern, and I’m sure he knows exactly what he wants in terms of player profile and how they fit in and enhance us…

Barnes has the runs on the board 13 goals this season from the wing Sancho hasn't showed much in the Premier League.

No point player scoring goals and being liability off the ball which he is

It's bizarre people keep resorting to type like we've just come up from Championship and don't have world class manager, with some player names that keep cropping up

Say what you like about Bruce, but that guy was committed. Chasing  Bryan down the motorway, vaulting McCormack's gates

Tbf to Bruce, although we poke fun and criticise him and are well aware of his limitations, he did do some good. He restored team unity and spirit (which was in tatters) and brought in players like McGinn, Hourihane, Adomah and loans like Snodgrass… all who made a huge contribution. I’d even go as far as to say he left Deano with a decent base, who took it much much further and showed how to actually do the job.

Credit where it’s due, but yeah, he’s a poor and dour manager 🤣

I don’t mean to be critical of people, it’s more of an analysis, but many are quite limited in scope or “lack imagination“ when it comes to potential transfer targets. It’s no one’s fault really, we’re too busy to have a wide knowledge of players in other leagues but… there is a lot of talent and value out there. No need to limit ourselves to the “home market” and the British/English tax… unless we can find genuine value like Tielemans!

Unai and Monchi have years and years of experience in terms of playing games and watching players all over the world… they will have seen and identified a lot of talent… I’d be shocked if they overpaid and just signed the kind of players many fans keep bringing up. Why pay 50/60m for an out of sorts, highly paid British or PL based player when you can get a high quality, high potential player who may become even more of a talent at… say 20/30m and much lower wages comparatively?

We can’t afford to take massive risks and heavy financial burdens… they’re the kind of moves that ruin a club (many examples). After all the progress we have made, I don’t want us to go back to the dark days…

It won’t happen, we have experts and specialists at the club now. They know what they’re doing and will make the best moves to benefit our club. We’re in such a healthy place.

I mean, if we applied the same logic to managers, we’d still be stuck with shitty/limited British managers and would never ave appointed and elite manager & coach like Unai.

We must broaden our horizons, it’s really paid off so far.

Sancho isn’t crap at all. It clearly hasn’t worked at UTD but there is a very good player in there.
