He's kind of wasted his career though staying there that long, should have moved from there years ago, probably won't ever play in Europe for them and won't win anything there. Crystal Palace is a sh*t part of London too and the ground is a

Would we say that about Jack though if he had stopped here ? He got his move early doors. Never worked out and then went back was it 10 years ago? . I kind of look at it the other way  . Never got another move but never threw his toys out and is as important for them in terms of winning percentage as Ty is for us.

Not worried tbh, and the odd one is good for experience, but signing too many old players is a bad policy and we have done just that recently with the likes of Digne, Coutinho, Diego Carlos etc.

Emery might sign an experienced head but evidence suggests it will predominantly be younger players, he was at Arsenal when they signed Martinelli and Saliba (although not sure how much input he had in signings there) and at Villareal he signed Foyth, Lo Celso, Danjuma etc who were all 25 or younger at the time and all became key players. Might get the odd experienced player in but not really a fan of buying lots of experienced heads as I don't think it's a good long term strategy.

Is a couple too many?

Zaha is exactly the type of player we want except as with Barnes discussion the other day he is LW rather than RW which would block off Moreno in our current system.

Also injuries would be another concern, seems to have missed a few games this year.

Yeah, wrong side. Should be looking at Chukwueze on the right side.

Jack probably did the right thing if he wanted to win things but we were all disappointed as we were making progress when he left and were 7 points off getting a European place in his final season which may have happened had he not got injured for the final three months. Palace seem to be one of those teams who just lower midtable every season, never really in any relegation danger but never good enough to even trouble top 10 let alone top 6. As you say though he had his big move to Man U which didn't work out so maybe that's why he's stayed put.

Yes one is enough 😋

So if we signed 2 players who are 30 years old, you'd not be happy?

If anything, Ash has showed us that it doesn't really matter so much - I don't see any point being that bothered over age. I just want Emery to sign the players he thinks that can do the best job for us.

If the quality of an older player isn't in doubt then it is worth it, Newcastle signed Trippier for example and he's been a revelation. Pope was also astute business. But they also signed Isak, Bruno G and Botman all in their early 20s. A mix is fine but we now have a few players getting on a bit especially in defence so I'd be wary of adding too much to that unless we shifted some of our older players.

Young is an interesting one, he's a model pro and been really solid for us, but for a side that wants to get into Europe next season if we're playing Young at RB most weeks we'll be in trouble as he just doesn't have the pace any more and been done a few times down that side because of his age. I'm pretty sure a new RB will be on our shopping list.

Salisu seems to be off this summer: perhaps one to keep an eye on, especially if someone like Konsa leaves (which imo is a reasonable possibility)

Saints fans aren't remotely distraught but everything seems to be going wrong at that club at the moment, so it's hard to get a good, objective read on the situation. Southampton have quite a lot of highly talented players whose team has added up to be less than the sum of their parts. It's a bit reminiscent of 2015/16 Villa, albeit to a lesser extent: some skilled players clearly being held back by utter dross in both the playing and management departments.

Don’t think Konsa will be going anywhere.

Salisu would be a decent option though, he’s over 6ft, left footed and only 23 so long term replacement for Mings perhaps.

He can be a bit of a beast . Brilliant last season . Very Ty like when he is in the mood. Cannot see Emery being interested in a player who has kind of downed tools though

I just have a weird hunch that he'll be sold this summer. Imo there'll be a few surprise departures regardless. Emery seems to be rather ruthless when it comes to signing players in positions he wants to improve: such as replacing Digne with Moreno. I just have a nagging feeling that might happen at CB. Maybe Emery will bring in a specialist in possession and playing out from the back? Our current CBs are *okay* in that regard (although Mings is heavily relied on), but not great.

The issue is complicated by Carlos' recovery: he clearly possessed the abilities at Sevilla, but it's very hard to see whether he'll be the same player again. It'll be interesting to see what happens with his recovery, and also the fate of Chambers. What happens to the centrebacks in the summer will be very interesting: the situation is pretty complex. I just have a feeling that, with Mings' new contract, any changes in that area are likely to come at the expense of Konsa.

Lots of Media outlets and ITK's linking with us 21 year old Reims Midfielder Dion Lopy

Just seen that on Twitter, stats wise he looks decent and only 21. Cheap DM cover so we can ship out Dendonker who’s on about 90k according to Capology

Interesting who FBref have down as similar players (Mcginn, Locatelli, Cheik Doucore, Youseff Fofana, Caicedo)

Zaha might as well stop at Palace if he doesnt get a champions league team. Thats his obvious dream.

He will go where the money is, if that is in London even better for him, I think. Spurs perhaps, or Chelsea (they always seem to find room for another player and the money to pay him:rolleyes:).

If links and rumours are to be believed and we’re in for a DM then I’d suggest Chuk, no, not that Chuk

Lesley Ugochukwu at Rennes

Proper beast in the making, would provide a proper physical presence in the middle of the park against the likes of Newcastle, Everton, etc. He’s only 19 as well.

Would anyone take Smith Rowe if we still had interest in him? Can't say I've seen him kick a ball for Arsenal this year? Wonder if he's thinking about moving on at all.

I like him, but I think his agent was just using us to get him a better contract. He's had a lot of time off with injury this season, but I doubt he would be looking to leave them.

Get him just for the chant

Ugochukwu, Ugochukwu

I can't stop this feeling, deep inside of me...
