VillaChris
Would love to see Brighton win the cup. Path is pretty clear for them to have a very good run. I'd fancy them even v Man. City if they get a home draw and Man. City between two CL ties.

BleedClaretAndBlue
Definite karma. Fabinho, Robertson and Konate all should have been off in the space of 10 minutes. VAR farcical as ever. Them saying VAR cant get involved with the Konate-MacAllister incident because it was outside the area? So they cant get involved for a last man red card incident? Joke.
KentVillan
Think that Fabinho tackle is borderline, not a clear cut red. Nasty foul, but he does it from a standing start, so not putting a huge amount of force into it. Probably a red if ref gives it, but can see why VAR wouldn't overturn. MakemineVanilla
How on earth is an elbow in the back of the head a legitimate challenge? Edited January 29, 2023 by MakemineVanilla
AndyM3000
It's a stonewall red. The ball is about a meter away from him and the other side of the player, I have no idea what he's doing. It's an absolute shocker of a challenge. Robertson a few minutes later was also lucky to stay on the pitch.

Agree with the bold bit, but to be a straight red he needs to "endanger the safety of the opponent" or use "excessive force or brutality", which usually means flying in from a sprint or going in very high / with elbows / etc. Same tackle from a sprinting start = clear red. Because he's already next to the player as he commits the foul, he probably just about gets away with it - or at least, VAR are willing to go with the referee's judgment. One of those that would probably be a red card in previous seasons, but with the new guidance, is more down to referee discretion. Nasty foul anyway, for sure. rodders0223
It's not even a tackle you can get angry at from Fabinho. It's just absolutely pitiful and he knows it. Not malicious. Just pitiful. And his reaction says it all. Time to go off to the MLS mate. Get a flight booked because you're done here . Woeful. So far off the pace he's a danger to every professional on the pitch.
