We don't have that much quality upfront aside from a 36 year old Falcao, Luis Díaz who's more of a wide left forward not a consistent goalscorer and despite playing in Qatar and Greece we still have to play James Rodríguez who seems to be more motivated by other things outside playing football I really liked Zapata I think he would have done well in England but the injury he got last season I think has ruined him
Popular Post VillaHatesMe
I'm a Chicago Fire fan. I'm familiar with Duran. I get why Villa wanted him, but I'm still surprised it happened. That said, as a Chicago Fire fan who has watched an aimless club shoot itself in the foot repeatedly for over a decade, the surprise could be due to me not believing the Fire are capable of having anything somebody else would want, but Duran is now the second teenager they've sold to a Premier League club for good money since August. As for the player, he's big, he's athletic, he's fast, and he's physical. He's essentially everything you want in a teenage prospect. He's also raw and emotional. He played 1,367 minutes last season, just more than 15 matches worth of minutes, and picked up seven yellow cards. Rarely were they smart or tactical. They were the "I messed up and I'm angry so now I'm going to go do something stupid" variety. That may take some time to be worked out of his game, or it may never be. He began the season in Chicago slowly, being worked in as a substitute for the first third of the season. You saw the potential, but he struggled to make a real impact. However, about halfway through the season, something clicked. While he wasn't a terror, you could see he was more confident and he began playing like it. He began to earn regular minutes and regular starts, and my thought was that he could prove to be one of the better strikers in the MLS when the new season began in February. I don't know what our plan will be with him here. Perhaps he goes on loan, or perhaps he stays with the team and gets some late season minutes as preparation for next season. But if his time in Chicago is an indication, he'll need time to adjust. He needed time to adjust from moving from Colombia to the United States, and now a year later he may be on his way to England. That's a lot for a kid to handle. He's talented. He could be a very good player for us. He could amount to nothing much. I don't know, but I wouldn't expect him to have an immediate impact no matter the result. 19

If Unai wants him, thats good enough for me. At the same time feel Brighton would have paid around £5M for him not £14M. If it works out - then happy days, but if it turn out to be like Wesley or Traore - same fans celebrating the signing will be ripping the club for financial mismanagement.
Herman22
It’s been said so many time already but just to reiterate. He’s very young and seems to be a really raw talent. He will need patience from the fans! I can see him getting some mins off the bench this season and hopefully making an impact. I do love these out of nowhere transfers Villa have pulled over the last few years!

The injury and big chances missed in important qualifiers meant he couldn't make the center forward role his in the NT. Muriel is another one that is a mercurial talent with purple goalscoring patches every now and then but injuries have costed him big time. Historically colombian players are very inconsistent, very talented, but mentally we lack resilience. If Tino Asprilla had half the discipline and mentality of CR7 he would have been a world class player. JPA wasn't the most talented from his generation but one of the most professional and willing to work on his weaknesses. Hopefully Duran being young means he can be coached to fulfill his potential and be a star for Villa
OutByEaster? Posted January 16, 2023 Moderator Share Posted January 16, 2023 We're good at this buying players without a lot of fuss business aren't we? He's exactly what we need, someone who can come off the bench and make an impact with pace and power and has the ability to develop into a starter.

Falcao is the one I would say was elite but he had bad injuries. Hoping Jhon is better I always like Colombia from the South American teams. They always have players that look they are just having fun over the years. Carlos Sanchez was probably the happiest destroyer ever

KentVillan
After becoming an expert on him by watching YouTube for 2 mins, my initial reactions: Good finisher Good in the air Very strong Quick (although might not look as quick in the PL...) Heavy touch I'd worry about the touch because the PL will be a lot less forgiving of it, but he looks a threat around the box.
