OutByEaster? Posted January 2, 2023 Moderator Share Posted January 2, 2023 This one will be fascinating - Stevenage, flying high in League 2 come to Villa Park against what I would assume will be a much changed Villa eleven in the middle of a very busy run of games. On paper, it should be straightforward enough, but Stevenage are going really well in the league and if we're not up for it, we might find ourselves in trouble. Selection will be a bit of a lottery. I'd go: -----------------------------------Olsen---------------------------------- Cash---------Bednarek*------Mings------Augustinsson ------------------Dendoncker---------Sanson------------------- --------------Ramsey----------------------Coutinho------------- ----------------------Ings---------------Archer---------------------- But it could be anything - it'd be nice to see Feeney and Kadan Young get opportunities off the bench. Ticket sales are currently a bit on the slow side, so we might also see the first crowd under 38,000 at Villa Park for a couple of years. Under normal circumstances I'd be nervous about this one, it's got banana skin written all over it. But Emery,

Agustisson could well play v Leeds so maybe digne instead.
HanoiVillan
Slightly disappointed that Archer won't be around as he would have been the natural choice to lead the line for this one, but oh well. Think Bailey should play, hopefully he can get a goal or an assist and try to get over this miss he's beating himself up over. With only five days until the next match, I would personally be changing most of the personnel and keeping a mix of game-changers and yoofs on the bench, but who knows how Emery will approach it. I'm going, for my first game at VP since the last day of the Women's season last season, and my first time to see the first team since I don't know when, maybe the promotion season actually. Looking forward to it.
MaVilla
more realistically, Cash for Guilbert though. if all goes well for 60 mins, would defo bring Bogarde along for 30 mins at the end, McGinn on the bench for 30 fitness minutes (if he recovers in time), maybe Ramsey for some fitness minutes also, would also give Guilbert 30 mins if its Cash who starts. duke313
Some people suggesting Bednarek. Isn’t there talk of his loan being terminated? I don’t see the point in starting him if it is. I’d much rather give Feeney or Bogarde a start alongside Mings.

This is the FA Cup 3rd round and "it's only" teams have upset the big boys many times in the past. And that's without them sending out their reserves. Stevenage are going well in League 2 and we need to be careful here.
