We're not paying £400k per week even on a free. Only the super clubs pay that sort of dosh.

Not sure how many times Felix has to say no before we listen. It's been clear for two years that Mendes uses Felix and a fake Villa connection as a negotiating tool. It's worked pretty well, too. But he ain't coming to Villa.

Bloody hope so, I think he'd be a failure here

Denilson MK II.

He looks a player. Everyone tells you he's a player. You're waiting for him to be a player. He doesn't become a player. Rarely scores player. Rarely assists player. Looks good though player. MLS at 30 player. Dogshit player.

Or Bojan MK II.

Pick one.

If this applies and they're English they are called 'young' till they're about 34

Pretty much an exact description of Coutinho.

If he sighs I think he will make a massive difference to our attack

This is my opinion of him as well, from what I've seen anyway. Feel like he could be a very expensive disappointment if the rumours are true.

One of those players that has all the ability in the world, but you're gambling on him showing it reliably game after game and getting into the right place mentally and personally to succeed. And it's a big money gamble.

If we want him, you'd back us to have the best team to get him performing. But I don't think it's given they'd succeed. I also don't think he'd want to come here in all honesty, and that might tell you everything about how likely to succeed he'd be.

Aston Villa are targeting an eye-catching move for João Félix after sanctioning the €60m (£50.5m) sale of their record signing, Moussa Diaby, to Al-Ittihad.

Félix, who joined Atletico Madrid in a €126m deal from Benfica as a teenager in 2019, is among those under consideration as Villa prepare for the Champions League. Villa last played in Europe’s elite competition in 1982-83.

Félix has spent most of the past two seasons on loan from Atlético, scoring 10 goals in 44 appearances for Barcelona across 2023-24. Chelsea paid €11m (£9.7m) to borrow Félix for the second half of 2022-23 and although it is unclear how viable a deal is, he is a player of interest to Unai Emery. Félix is under contract at Atlético until 2027.

The 24-year-old Portugal forward is an intriguing prospect for Emery, who admires players capable of operating across the front line, such as the January signing Morgan Rogers.

Aston Villa 'Considering' Move for Atletico's Joao Felix

Felix spent last season on loan at Barcelona, scoring 10 goals in 44 games for the Blaugrana as they finished second in La Liga behind bitter rivals Real Madrid. Heading back to the capital to continue his time at Atletico, there has been vast speculation surrounding his future this summer - and according to Romano, he has now cropped up on Villa's radar after being 'appreciated' by boss Unai Emery.

Villa 'Appreciate' Joao Felix

The Champions League side could flex their European muscles

The deal is considered to be 'extremely difficult' given the huge fees that have bandied about for Felix in the past, including his record-breaking £113million deal from Benfica to Atletico Madrid - but Villa are considering the signing of the 'world class' Portuguese star after their sale of Diaby which could go through this week.

According to Marca, Atletico are only willing to sell Felix permanently and will not consider any further loan moves, which could rule Barcelona out of contention to sign him given that they want another temporary deal.

The report states that Atletico have set a price of €60million (£50million) for the sale of Felix.

Villa are interested in a deal for Felix, who scored ten goals for Barcelona last season. Unai Emery's side would be able to meet Atletico's asking price.

Based solely on guesswork I imagine Felix would benefit from a permanent move rather than yet another loan so he could settle a bit and not have play for a contract. Still no idea if he can step out of that ever present Ronaldo shadow that has buried him to date.

Or he relaxes too much knowing he's settled for the next 5 years!
