João Félix

Have never thought this one was going to happen and still don’t. Not based on anything though so this post is completely a waste of space*.

(*Here’s a joke our three year old told me today to make up for it? What flies and wobbles? A jellycopter.)

Maybe. Or maybe it's just a Portugese bias view.

We don't believe all the thing our papers say this is just more of the same. João Felix to Benfica will sell papers in Portugal

Interest allegedly cooled - pinch of salt always

Aston Villa left the scene for the Portuguese".

"From Birmingham, precisely, came one of the main threats to Benfica. Unai Emery is an admirer of the striker's qualities and the international press claimed that he was very close to reinforcing Aston Villa. However, according to the information we have gathered, the Premier League club will not move forward in negotiations and is already thinking about alternatives for the 24-year-old.

Good. He's shit.

The kind of player people will be waiting to have his breakout season still when he's 42 years old.

Absolute cabbage.

Maybe slightly overated as well. No doubt he has the talent but he's struggled everywhere he's gone. Reminds of Qaresma. He's like a god to some fans....I don't see why.

Olmo is very close to signing.

Well that simplifies things then, Barca won't be signing Felix as well.  So, we may be his only option unless Benfica are still interested.

They play different positions though. Olmo is a 10 who can play out wide whilst Felix is more of a second striker option. He mostly played out on the left for Barca last season too.

From Emerys after match interview it appears we must sell Duran before we can make this deal happen.  He didn't talk about specific players but we haven't made a bid yet and we have been let down by West Ham so its a waiting game.

Yep, as you've said.

The positions are irrelevant, it's more to do with the fact Barca are broke.  If they sign Olmo, they won't be signing Felix.  Not unless Atletico agree to another loan, which we're led to believe they don;t want.

I would imagine he's stalling in the hopes Barca go back in for him since it looks like they are not getting Williams or Olmo.  This may still happen.

I hope he sees us as the legitimate step for his career.

Yes and no, Barca shouldn’t be allowed to sign Olmo but here we are. They could play Olmo as a 10 and Felix out on the left conceivably too.

Benfica seem more likely to be his destination as the Villa side of things have gone very quiet.

Quote

Monchi and Emery play with the desperation of Atlético de Madrid and João Félix

Atlético de Madrid does not want João Félix to continue at the club, nor does Joao Félix want to continue training with Atlético . The theory is clear, but the practice does not work like that. For the moment, on August 1, the Portuguese continues to train under Simeone and that does not seem to be going to change, at least in the very short term.

Many are wondering why we see João training with the group if nobody wants him to be with the squad. Very simple: he has a contract and the club has the obligation to make him train with his teammates. If he doesn't, he risks a complaint from AFE . The footballer has the right to work and that is what he is doing at the moment. The Portuguese is seen talking a lot with Reinildo and Samu Lino during training and the situation with Simeone is cordial.

But of course, the days go by, the training sessions go by and João Félix gets a little desperate. But Atlético de Madrid does too. Every day that goes by, the situation gets worse for the club and better for those interested in it. Playing with the desperation of Simeone, Berta, Bucero and company seems to be the strategy.

FC Barcelona, for the moment, is not making any moves. It does not have the financial capacity to undertake a transfer and the player's poor season at Can Barça seems to rule out his return. Benfica , another club that has been heavily linked, is also immersed in a period of change and does not have the financial capacity to undertake the operation under the current terms.

But an English club and several well-known ones appear. Emery and Monchi's Aston Villa. They do have the ability to move pounds at will and they know that the footballer does not want to play for the Spanish club. The English have met with the footballer's agents, they have the go-ahead but they are waiting. They do not want to make a false move , they know that time is on their side and they are waiting to see what happens in the coming weeks .

Meanwhile, João will continue training with Simeone's team and we will see what happens in the friendly against Getafe next Saturday at 9:00 pm at the Coliseum. Logic dictates that he will not even be called up, but in the next training sessions there may be some news .

I don’t buy we’d wait until the end of the window to make it happen. We need to reduce the squad to bring in names but that was going to happen regardless.

It’s probably because they want a big fee but we know/believe and they will cave to a much lower fee.  If it saves us 10-20m then we are doing the right thing…all just guess work though.

Maybe we are trying to secure other targets or shift names first. Yes. It’s all speculative for sure.
