God that was gutting, when will I learn? I’m sorry but we were miles better than France but again we didn’t step up when it counted. And that’s always England. Frustrating as ****! Sorry but hope Morocco do them over now.

Generally agreed - but **** knows why we took off Saka. Literally doing everything good in the attacking third, wins a penalty, completely dominating their left back.

Yeah, sack that off. We need to play Sterling who is just recovering from some personal trauma.

Jokes aside, when your main tactic is to play for set pieces, not playing Grealish and not bringing JWP to the tournament just seems kind of counterintuitive.

It's not American football, there's no special teams line. James Ward-Prowse is shit; if he was on the field, playing central midfield in this game, he might have scored a free kick from the edge of the area but we would likely have been 4-1 down when he got it.

Did we have a shot on goal? When he brought Saka off I was shocked , he was our most effective player.

.........Grealish is a far better player than Rashford or Foden, if you don't see this then I'm not interested in your opinion .

Our midfield was dreadful, Rice and Henderson never created anything, great at 2 yards passes and some last ditch tackles but we're against players like Griezmann, we need more from the middle

Pickford was middle championship level, first goal was poor from his point of view

Southgate yet again has failed us, that 3 tournaments in a row where we have failed to even get close to opposition we should be, imho, beating .

We had the goal, the penalty miss, the maguire header and the Bellingham shot off the top of my head

The southgate belts and braces approach wasn't the problem tonight

Grealish doesn't play and his PL and now England performances don't say he's better than those players, thats a cold hard truth, grealish has done nothing in an England shirt and very little in a man City one

We really weren't.

I ageee that we weren't "miles better than France". We were only a little better than them. We were better than them in the possession, shots and shots on target stats... But we weren't better than them in being clinical and powerful with attempts, for example, such as their two goals compared with several of our shots that were weak and easily saved by Lloris. Maybe a bigger amount of shooting practice is needed back on the training pitch?! I give up. (Almost).

The modern game more and more relies on teams gaining and committing tactical fouls. When you have players that good at set pieces you have them in the squad. It shouldn’t be any different than bringing on players for the purposes of penalties. A smart manager recognises this. He also had Trippier and Maddison on the bench for set pieces but ignores them.

Why did Sterling get bought on after just getting back from changing his locks, surely what's his face should have got on earlier.

Exactly, England are blessed with lots of amazing attacking players, why throw Sterling on when he hasn’t trained all week?

That was his biggest **** up.

The one player who he absolutely should not have taken off....... He took off.

I agree.Still brings him on and runs the clock down with 2 minutes left though. I'd love to hear the rationale because it's absolutely bonkers

Henderson ain’t international quality. JWP would honestly offer more.

I don't think for a second that JWP should have started any game at this tournament, but I think he'd have been a decent option off the bench when chasing a game. The better option would have been to bring on Maddison today who is a great set piece taker himself. Instead we were treated to Mason Mount, noted set piece specialist whipping the ball to nowhere in particular.
