Pinebro
It still haven't sunk it to me that he is our manager. It's insane that Nassef managed to pull this off

sidcow Posted November 7, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted November 7, 2022 I reckon he absolutely knows he's good enough to be a top manager in The Premier League. Knows he can trade punches with those top managers we have here and desperately wants to show that after his shabby treatment by Arsenal. Shame they're on top from right now, they'll be a really tough nut to crack. I'm sure he'll want to beat them badly.
Popular Post MaVilla
for all the other comments around the performance, you know what struck me as much as anything. We were 3-1 up, that always, literally always, against good opposition led to us getting deeper and deeper, trying to park the bus and us being at panic stations trying to defend for our lives, conceding effectively all possession to try and defend like our lives depended on it. against Manure, 90 minutes gone, 6 mins remaining, we literally held on to the ball, passed it around, and to at least some degree tried to control the final 6 ish minutes. I actually timed it with a bloomin' stop watch (like a nerd), from the 90 minutes mark, via possession, ball out of play, contested ball, foul, or a scenario where Manure didnt physically have control of the ball, we had 5 mins 10 sec of ball/pitch control of the total 6 minutes added time. that is Manure only having "control" of the ball for 14% of the final 6 minutes added time, we effectively had 86% of ball control (as i said, not actual ball at our feet, but that, fouls, out of play, contested etc etc). Honestly, when was the last time you ever, literally ever, saw a Villa team do that in stoppage time when we were defending a lead against a "top" side? Wizardry. Talk about infectious! Wow. Absolutely brilliant. So animated in the technical area. But positively, no throwing hissy fits like so many of the managers. Orchestrating and directing the players like it was a training match. He is so impressive in so many ways.
one_ian_taylor Posted November 7, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted November 7, 2022 I know it's only one game and a handful of training sessions, and we can't expect that every game, but what an impact. Amazing what a bit of decent coaching and an injection of purpose can do. Reading through the various player threads, it shows how things are already changing quickly. Suddenly it feels like we have options and a much stronger squad than probably many felt a few weeks back. I could only follow the game on radio, but everything I've seen and heard suggests players playing to their strengths, and a real determination. A huge difference between a flexible but clear tactical plan that gives players licence, and what we had before - an inflexible shape where attackers seemed to be expected to stick fairly rigidly to position but then somehow magically come up with plays to unlock defenses. Lovely stuff
TheMightyVillans
Gerrard said chelsea should be wiping the floor with us at villa park. Emery's first game he wipes the floor with utd breaking a 27 year old curse. Levels.
