Things can only get better. Dean Smith built a squad that was very 'coachable', so it's unsurprising that they have picked up the instructions quickly. The last guy couldn't coach and wasted the opportunity... I don't think this one will.

I said I suspected our squad is overrated. I am more than happy to concede that this is one step in the direction of alleviating those worries. Still some way to go, just one game, but man this gives me hope and joy!
Guest av1
As great as today has been, my immediate worry now is the police, because I’m currently in a bush outside Unai Emery’s house with my vasoline and a 30 year contract. The old bill take a dim view on this sort of shit but I’m not moving until he signs it or I get a reach around

As for man management that was clearly out of whack too.
Sulberto21
The best thing about Emery is that we’ll go into the games against the better teams expecting to win.
Popular Post Stevo985 Posted November 6, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2022 An absolutely magnificent start. A team with a formation that makes sense, obvious tactical tweaks and innovations, and already a system emerging. I couldn’t be happier

Popular Post Stevo985 Posted November 6, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted November 6, 2022 You only have to look at how he used Dendoncker today to see how far ahead he is tactically than Gerrard. Debdoncker was alongside Luiz as a deep lying DM when we were in possession. But when Utd had the ball he advanced up to the tip of a midfield diamond, presumably to assist the high press. Then towards the end of the game he gets move to centre forward to see the game out. Could you imagine Gerrard even thinking of anything like that, let alone executing it?

Popular Post DCJonah
I just loved the times we were able to play out from the back and find a midfield player in space. Rather than Mings hoofing it down the channel whilst we hoped for a moment of magic.
Vive_La_Villa
I’m so happy with today but I’m also not going to get too carried away. That Man U team was shit and had zero ideas without Fernandez. We won’t always have that much time and space to pass through teams like that. So much work still to be done. But obviously couldn’t be happier with the start and its so nice to finally beat United at home. Edited November 6, 2022 by Vive_La_Villa
