Anyone any idea what that letter says in English?, i cant copy it to google translate..

Not sure how accurate the translator is but:

C A R T A A B I E R T A
UNAI EMERY
Villarreal has been my home for the last two years and
media.
My house, not my club, because I have felt integrated, dear,
identified and passionate about Villarreal CF. I have lived in
first person the excellence of the project driven by the
Roig family and our beloved Jose Manuel Llaneza. From
outside it was an admirable project and, from the inside, I have been able to
to confirm it, to feel part of it. We have achieved successes together,
we have lived great moments and, regardless of the
results, I have felt more loved and supported than ever.
I don't have a single reproach. Fernando Roig Negueroles, on day a
day, and Fernando Roig Alfonso, together with all the executives of the
Club headed by José Manuel, have been key to
I could give my best. Without them, nothing would have been possible.
They have made the resources and peace of mind available to me
necessary so that, looking back, we have been able to live a
european title and a UEFA Champions League semi-finals,
thanks also to the commitment of all the players, the
employees and management. And with a whole people, warm fans
and faithful that he has never failed us, and that, even now in the
of doing a hundred kilometers to support us in Valencia, he has
given a lesson in loyalty and fidelity.

If I had written a letter of wishes when I signed at Villarreal,
I would have come up short. Everything has been perfect.
I have enjoyed this path to the fullest. However, part of
every path is its end. My stage, with the requirement printed and
the successes reaped, was nearing its end in the next
month of June. For the last few days I've been thinking
carefully and feeling what my decision should be.
Farewell is hard and difficult, but my feeling and my reflection
i just have to start a new project.
I will never forget that night in Gdansk, where we touched the sky.
Nor those of Turin, Munich or Bergamo. Or the one from last Sunday,
that was the best tribute to José Manuel. But, believe me, the best
it has been to come every morning to work happy, knowing that you were
in the place where you fully fit in and felt respected.
On July 27, 2020, in my presentation, I said that my dream
it was to win a title with Villarreal CF. Today, after having
fulfilled, I can tell you the fans, the Club and my
players that what I would have never dreamed is that I was going to be so
happy as I have been with you.
ALWAYS GROGUET. THANKS TO TOTS! ENDAVANT!

I think this is the best balance between experience, winning football and low risk appointment as we could have got.

Cracking signing, for all those reasons. And, we have significant funds to use as well! This is, like, a very good day.

As a secondary point, I'd be interested in people explaining why all the Stevie G 'eeeeeerrrm' stuff, which I thought was pretty juvenile tbh, and not really funny either, but by all accounts all over youtube and social media, is any different to this?

I think stuff like that is a pretty cheap shot all round tbh.

I get your point but I think firstly there is a level of malevolence that came with the mocking of Emery that isn’t there with Gerrard which probably comes a bit closer to “banter”, and secondly with Emery it’s the whole British media ganging up on a foreigner for being foreign whereas with Gerrard it’s just fans ripping a scouser the same as British people rip other British accents all the time (see for example the amount of people who take the piss out of the Brummie accent).

Mocking a foreign manager speaking a language that is not his own is basically just cruel and humiliating.

I'm happy with that appointment, its a tier below Pochettino and that calibre of manager but still a very good appointment who is more than ambitious enough for were we want to be for the forseeable future. Maybe this guy can get us into Europe and win it at some point, what a fantastic record he has in the Europa.

I wanted Poch but I  am more than happy with Emery. Not sure how you can say he’s a tier below. He’s the same age as Poch and had far more success at comparable clubs. His last 2 seasons in Europe with Villarreal he won the Europa League and then got to the semi final of the Champions league, I actually think he might prove to be a tier above Poch.

“This once was and thus must come to pass again.”

Jesus Christ, you guys turn to bad fantasy literature cliches when judging our new signings. ‘Oi! We had one o dem foreign blokes here once’s. He was shit.’  😅

We aren’t Arsenal, Emery isn’t the Dr, and we write our own **** future no matter what came before. Then the page Villa.

In terms of CV, this is the best we’ve ever had.

i hope you prove to be right and that he becomes a big success here! It is a good appointment and undoubtedly we have appointed someone who has a lot of experience and

most importantly is a tactician. I have a feeling he will create a really good atmosphere in the dressing room, we desperately need a unifier in there and he could be that person.

I really hope we give him the time he needs to build something special here. From the initial reaction on here, that might just be the case!

Well if Brentford is any indication, he has a solid foundation to begin with. He refused Newcastle's advances because, as he said, they didn't have a clear vision for the future so whatever was said to him clearly entailed a long term plan for growth.

Emery is definitely NOT a tier below Pochettino/Tuchel etc. if he had a FIFA rating it would be around 85/86. Pep/Klopp would be in the 90’s. Pochettino /Tuchel around 88

Dyche would be 99. 😬.

What about Gerrard? 12?

interesting that he said "For the last few days I've been thinking carefully and feeling what my decision should be".

basically, we were on to him right after, or maybe even slightly before gerrard was sacked.

I do find the accent thing funny. A bloke that can speak 3 languages is mocked by English halfwits that struggle with English 🤣

I think the key might be that Villareal already have a replacement lined up (if the media are to be believed). If that's true, this was not hashed out from scratch this afternoon.

It’s a fancy name, even a big name if you like . I think we’ll be very entertaining and he’ll work very well with the players. As a fanbase I think everyone is behind this appointment, so let’s get behind him through the good and not so good times.

If ive read it right Emery has won 11 trophies to poch's 3, i know who id want at my club.

And the one big chance Poch had to win the CL he decided to play a half fit Kane.

Thsts sort of brilliance has the English national gig written all over it
