ciggiesnbeer
Poch at PSG. Interesting to see how he might play with us. Bit worrying he does the "bomb squad" thing but that aside I would be happy if he gets the job, Tuchel (trigger warning caution Rio Ferdinand) Edited October 21, 2022 by ciggiesnbeer
foreveryoung
One things for sure, the next appointment needs to be right this time, or i can see Purslow and Lange going with them!
est1874
Given that we're not getting Poch (wow, surprise surprise) - or anyone of that ilk - I'd take the Vincent Kompany.

We met with Poch last week as I alluded to earlier in the week, he had his full entourage in tow so it looked promising. I only know this through someone who works at the golf club. I also know someone in the marketing dept but get very little other than the social stuff I mentioned earlier in then week. 24 minutes ago, jim said: Speculation. Popular Post Chindie Posted October 21, 2022 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted October 21, 2022 Poch is very unlikely but we should try to have the conversation with him. He'll probably turn us down but we should at least make a proposal to him. If he wants to return to management in England, we're probably the biggest opportunity he'll get in the near future. It's down to whether we can persuade him that there's an opportunity here he can work with (and a wage worth taking it) that outweighs sitting around waiting for other things to happen that might get him CL football when he didn't cover himself in glory at PSG. Tuchel isn't happening. He's too fresh off too big a success and too soon on the market, he'll wait for a CL club on the continent. We'd be wasting our time even trying to speak to him. Amorim I know nothing about. It seems he's rated and has a very good record, but not in a top tier league and he's very young. He's a gamble. Could be awesome, could be a disaster. Emery I think is the smart choice, if he fancies it. He's that slight bit lower than the elite managers, but still has a generally excellent record. Especially with clubs with Villa in the name . He has unfinished business in England, he's tactically astute and he's got the record to imbue confidence. Like Poch you'd need to persuade him, I think, but he'd be a really good choice I think.
Popular Post OutByEaster? Posted October 21, 2022 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted October 21, 2022 It's pure speculation that Poch and Tuchel have turned us down. For that matter, it's pure speculation that we're looking at either of them as potential replacements for Steven Gerrard. Here's the sum total of all of the facts we know from inside the club so far: Danks on Sunday.

MSvillain
One thing I’ve read about Amorim’s squad is that he does like a few older players in there, so our Gerrard purchases may not go completely to waste if he comes in Edited October 21, 2022 by MSvillain

Guardiola, Klopp, Tuchel, Conte, Mourinho, all were appointed by top clubs in the Prem without having worked in England before. Why can they do it? Jose aside who actually won a champions league. The others all managed in one of the big European league. Portuguese league is pretty weak mate. Amorim may be a great manager. But success in the Portuguese league only is no barometer to use. Tayls
So I’m trying to figure out what Poch/Tuchel turning us down (allegedly) actually means, and for me there are two possibilities: 1) neither of them fancies themselves as decent coaches up for a challenge with a team not already in the champs league. In which case, are they even worth it? 2) Our draw isn’t that appealing, in terms of financials involved and ambitions of the club. In which case, what on earth are we playing at? Im slightly concerned which avenue we are going to take with this next appointment, and I’m also concerned that we are going to fail to appoint who we really want at this time. Indeed and he also took over one of the best squads in history which also had the best player in the world. Not sure of the relevance to managing in the Premier League?
