No chance he'll leave permanently and take a pay cut with 2 years left on contract and nobody will pay the £6.5m needed for us to not book a loss. This is a financial hit ala Coutinho, hopefully we can minimise it. So it's better for Villas books to loan him out for 2 years paying part of his wages rather than selling him for let's say 3m now with no contribution to wages? Makes no sense

Makes no sense In order to sell someone, you need a buyer. it is hard to find a buyer willing to pay him what we are paying him. Ergo, he is not likely to accept a move. He is more likely to run down his contract than he is to sign for someone else for half the wages. The best we can hope for is someone willing to take him on loan and pay part of his wages. Makes perfect sense.
VillaParkAvenue
But Zak is right in that if someone was willing to sign him permamently and take over his wages, it would be better for Villa even If we had to book a small loss. The problem is it’s so unlikely to happen. Edited July 14 by VillaParkAvenue

Makes no sense Well look at it this way, of course we'd like to sell him even if it was booking a small loss. We're not going to let him sign for someone for free or close to it. Then we have what are a buying club going to offer in wages, he's on around 90k a week. Nobody will pay that. So a permanent move is very unlikely.

_AA_786
We better strap ourselves in as I don't think the Donk will go (if he does) until the final 2 weeks of the window. He isn't someone people are clamouring for so the best we can hope is that a team looks to add him as their option C/D or to pad out their squad. With the options/numbers we now have in midfield, there’s simply no room for him. He’s so inferior or less suited than any of them. He and his agent should be doing everything to get a move and be more than willing to compromise on their demands. His international career is essentially over too. Those wages though… bloody CP, JL & SG

Probably two-fold - looking to impress Unai or to impress any suitors looking to sign him. Fair play to him either way.

villabromsgrove
Dendoncker played well last night. I think he will be loaned out again and wish him well. His fitness and attitude is a credit to him.
