It's a decent show Same, and generally these series are designed to peak through the second half of a season, so interested to see how this all plays out (not having read the books). Where it perhaps lacks a bit compared with GoT (besides the CGI) is the narrow focus on one location and family. That’s good in terms of being able to keep up with what’s going on, but GoT was so expansive. Anyway, I’m happy enough with it. Think the acting is generally stronger (completely disagree that Considine is miscast), with fewer obviously weak actors, and will keep watching.

Or like GoT the first season just sets everything up. It's very well written and acted. It's just nobody was really asking for another GoT show so I'm more a bit meh for it in that respect than the quality of the show itself.
avfc1982am
Well, I've been critical of several things watching the first 3 episodes, but I have to say the 4th was excellent. The characters are starting to blossom, and the story is becoming more gripping with intrigue. Paddy, Matt and Milly are really settling into their roles. It's such a shame that Milly isn't around for long. superb episode though.

They really were, ever since GOT finished (and even before), people have wanted other storylines and another programme.

I'd say a fair number of people were put off the franchise by the awful last season or so of GOT. I'm sure there are plenty of others keen for more too, but surely the enthusiasm scale has suffered, which might make committing so much money to an expensive franchise less desirable. They've done it though. I'm not sure if I'll get round to watching it myself—I'm in that first catagory.

Well GoT ended so bad, the final 2 seasons basically killed the entire show and that killed any real desire for spinoffs from the majority of fans. Hence literally no fan fair for the release of House of the Dragon. It's like it has to earn its own stripes as a show again. Rightfully so as Season 7/8of GoT is the worst thing in TV history given how drastically it fell off the cliff

Spoiler It is well known that when the time jump happens, the character of Rhaenyra will be played by a different person Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra will be much older. That has long been announced as the books jump around a lot (but I've not read them). I have to say, that having watched it so far, it is alright. Not peak GoT but infinitely better than the end of GoT. Edited September 14, 2022 by cyrusr

A 10 year time jump coming up in the next couple of episodes I believe 1

Friendly advice: Never watch Spartacus. (Although, personally, I found Spartacus quite entertaining for some reason )
