Peter Griffin
It slow mo it does look like a deflection which would mean offside

TDR V2
But there was a Liverpool player between benzema and the goal. What a stupid rule. If you are sliding in to a tackle and you get the ball it's not accidental.is it.

Lichfield Dean Posted May 28, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted May 28, 2022 I just realised that two Liverpool players touched the ball as well. One played it forwards into the knee of the other one. No way was that offside, absolutely no way.

Genie
Quote Offside is one of the laws of association football, codified in Law 11 of the Laws of the Game. The law states that a player is in an offside positionif any of their body parts, except the hands and arms, are in the opponents' half of the pitch, and closer to the opponents' goal line than both the ball and the second-last opponent (the last opponent is usually, but not necessarily, the goalkeeper).[1] wiki

JB
Is Peter Walton talking bollocks to support the referee’s decision, again? If his explanation is right, then there’s literally no way that Benzema can receive the ball without being offside, other than a Liverpool player intentionally passing it to him. What a ridiculous rule if correct.
Peter Griffin
The big problem with VAR is that in these situations where it is difficult to determine the intent or the rule or the offside or whatever, the benefit of doubt should always be given to the attacking team imo
TDR V2
One liverpool.player kicks it onto another one. It.doesnt touch a Madrid player until Benzema scores. What a daft bonkers over complicated rule that is

penguin
Really pisses me off them getting away with that and remembering the disgrace of a penalty they got against Spurs to win the same competition. Officiating determines way too many games.
