Imagine 5 years ago someone telling you we will have amazing youth CBs coming through, and a CB choice of Pau, Mings, Konsa and Carlos and then reacting to that by throwing toys out the pram.

We have cover so when there's injuries we're not short. We don't have cover so that when there's injuries we have MORE backups. The idea is even with 2 injured players we still have two fit ones. Why can't people grasp this.

Man Utd spend more than anyone else and have insane wage structure and about 7 CBs last year and they still ended up with a half fit Casemiro and Evans at the back a couple times. There's only so much you can prepare

We have known for a long time that Mings has some way back:

Prem clubs normally have 4 senior CBs in their squads, We have known we’d go with just 3 until the new year or so.

Then Carlos gets injured and our only backup is gone. Pray for the best.

If we subtract the strikers (Ollie and Duran) we have 10 senior midfielders or attacking midfielders. With the exception of Buendia, they’re all fit too. What a waste eh?

Let's wait and see what happens before we allow the cloud of doom to descend over us......well some of us. Looking for the negative in everything becomes tiresome, especially when we don't know what's happening behind the scenes.

He must be still way off it , when it comes to fitness, this game was crying out for him in second half. DCL was bullying our two CBs and we left him on bench.

Carlos gets bullied more than anyone

Just because once in a while he throws someone while they're off balance and concedes a foul doesn't make him tough.

I think we did look more solid with him at CB and Konsa at RB though. If Ned isnt ready, it might be time to make that switch. I'm not writing off Bogarde or anything, he just doesn't ready in 'big' games yet.

He remains a mystery.

He has all the attributes to be a top class defender. He’s actually very composed on the ball but in nearly every game, he plays some mad, suicidal pass.

Baffling player.

Just don't play him against RB Leipzig

He's got 3 passes. 100mph into you from 5 yards, underhit into you inviting a leg break, and one to the opposition.

Never trust a defender who makes it all about himself. Wants to show everyone how calm he is, how strong he is and how smooth he is.

Often ending up coming a cropper.

As long as the ball is on the ground, he’s more than capable. Its when the crosses start coming in that he falters.

Could have said that about Mings not long ago.

Not saying Carlos will turn it around, but I don't think he's 'making it about him', think it's just how he plays.

I agree though it's a bit alarming. He's a capable defender but just a bit too rash to inspire confidence.
