ROTTERDAM1982
Glad we didn't get Phillips...........incredibly negative player. Can't stand Southgate, why is Saka not playing LB with SJG in front?

Is he just another nondescript Henderson type player that Safegate loves or does he have more about his game than that ? Not watched a lot of him but when I have he looked to be your archetypal box-to-box midfielder, bursting runs forward and great and carrying the ball. Probably not much use for him in a Southgate team.

Yeah its one of the biggest anomalies in the space time continuum that England's most successful manager in 50 years is still manager. How do we possibly get our heads around it?! foreveryoung
As if that number 9 Hungary player would hurt his shin that much on Bellinghams face, with shin pads on too, he's having a laugh. Time wasters.

ROTTERDAM1982
Thats a good point tony.......Bellingham is talked up a lot, is only young so will develop, but he is a bit Carlton Palmerish
theboyangel
Most successful yet most boring/insipid manager in our history. With this current crop of players we should be thrashing teams, not squeaking a 1-0 win with a soft Harry Kane penalty.
Genie
FFS Bowen was never creating a goal out of that

stewiek2
These games are supposed to have replaced friendlies but have a competitive edge. Fine. I get that. But if that's the case then why, especially with the world cup being in just a few months time, is he experimenting with his squad so bloody much rather than honing it down and looking at tightening up formations, styles of play etc? Instead he's still tinkering as if it's not til next summer. Unlike previous nations leagues this practically is it til the world cup so go all out to win it, gain momentum going into Qatar and solidify a squad and way of playing. But no, he continues to think he's a footballing genius Edited June 14, 2022 by stewiek2

MachoFantastico
My biggest fear is the FA will be too scared to sack Southgate, they act like he's their golden child.

fightoffyour Posted June 14, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 14, 2022 Sack the word removed already. These aren't friendlies, and we're losing to Hungary two games in a row. I'm watching Poland anyway, rather watch paint dry than Sareth Safeball.
