Got absolutely trollied and passed out just as they were coming on. Mates woke me up when they'd finished i have a 2nd hand gig regret along similar lines a mate of mine flew over to coachella when dre and snoop played. i asked him how it was as i was super jealous but got himself so wasted that he can't remember a thing

Thinking about it, this is where the impromptu folk music session in the pub comes into its own. Folkies (especially the Scots and Irish ones) tend to have a huge repertoire of songs and tunes in their heads, so you get a lot of "Hey, let's have a go at..(song)". Of course, you have to be the sort that likes that kind of music, rather than the 'concert arrangements' of familar recordings that you get in more mainstream popular music. I like both approaches, depending on mood. Being magnanimous, I assume that freestyling rap contests might come under a similar heading.
mrchnry
Never got to see REM because every time they toured I decided to catch them next time. One of my biggest life regrets that is. 1

One of my biggest life regrets that is. I'm sure you've seen my REM story (and @bickster's) on here before. Precis: First UK tour, 1984, playing small clubs. None of my mates would go, as they'd never heard of them. I ended up sitting chatting and drinking with the band for over an hour. Really nice fellers. EDIT: Oh, and as for requests, I asked for 'Rockville', which they said wasn't in the setlist, but they'd add it for me. Which they did. To put that in context, he remembered we'd invited him next time he was in Liverpool, from one tour to the next and even sent Jefferson their manager to look for us in the audience to take us backstage so he could apologise in person.

Mozzavfc
Seeing the 'Jackson 5' a few years ago at Glastonbury. Saw them with some mates, and stuck it out far too long under the impression it must get better. It did not

Popular Post chrisp65
It’s 1991, the world is nowhere near as cool and woke as it now is. My dad, an absolute Queen nut wants to go and see Brian May, live at Cardiff Indoor Ice Rink. He has nobody to go with. My mum pressures me to go with him. We head in to town, get down to the Ice Rink and my old man decides he wants pints before he goes in as gig prices are bound to be a rip off. We march in to a pub. Once in, once adjusting and clocking the other drinkers, it’s a gay pub. My dad can’t handle this and doesn’t understand why poofs would want to go to pubs and drink pints. So we leave. We leave with my dad draping a protective arm over my shoulder. I’ve left a gay pub with a man 20 years older than me, in an embrace. We get to the venue that is usually an ice hockey rink. Brian May kicks off the gig with ‘Driven By You’ a bloody Ford advert, the stills projection behind him includes Ford logos. It’s a bloody advert. It quickly turns out a steel shed ice rink does not have the best acoustics, I mean I was never going to like it, but it was awful. Mid show, Mr May does ‘Driven By You’ again, we’re having that promotion video again. That feels a bit mad, I start taking the piss out of my old man that he’s been had. We find a place at the back of the shed where the acoustics are less bad. But it must be close to toilets, because if the noise dies down, we can hear flushes and water whooshing down pipes. The show is nearly over, we’re in touching distance of this being over. The encore? ‘Driven By You’. Even his own crowd, the people that wanted to be there are completely flat with being played a Ford advert for the third time in a gig. What was desired effect? That they all subliminally leave the gig and buy a Sierra? I’ve never been to a gig before or since where the same song was played 3 times throughout the show. I do have a mate who claims he saw Dr & The Medics at a festival and they just did Spirit In The Sky over and over to fill their time slot.

chrisp65
Took my nippers to a gig they wanted to see in London. Three US guys that were in some TV show that did music as a side thing. They were flying in, doing the gig, leaving again. Got the kids down to Hoxton, got them in the gig and left them to it. At Heathrow, a guitar had been damaged and one of them kicked off that it was needed for a gig in 2 hours time and it was completely unacceptable. They got put back on the next plane for writing ‘leisure’ on some entry form, then declaring they were working and wanted compo for a damaged guitar. I thought it was a lot funnier than the kids did. VILLAMARV
I had tickets to see Black Grape in Doncaster of all places many moons ago. Supposed to be the start or near the start of the tour - got put back to the last gig of the tour, great I thought coz it'll be better and they might have learnt the songs by then . In the end they broke up the day before after a show in London IIRC and cancelled the donny gig. I was there ticket in hand asking which door to go through in Doncaster Dome, the nice receprtionist lady informed me it was cancelled. I laughed at her obviously funny joke trick she was playing on me and then I realised she was not laughing and I wasn't getting my booking fee back either.
