Lumping the ball up to Coutinho and Buendia who are 2ft tall against 15ft defenders - check. The Ball bouncing of wooden plan Watkins - check. Forward plays breaking down with Watkins and Cash, over and over - check. Cash looking like he doesnt know what to do with the football when he passes the half way line - check. Luiz not showing for balls, taking his time and doing nothing with it, over hitting free kicks constantly - check. McGinn looking like a panicked chicken head and just......wasting possession - check Half this team is bottom half quality. problem is moving those players on - cant see any clubs wanting them #irony

bobzy
We’ve been awful. Absolutely awful. All well and good keeping the ball round the back, but lumping it long to an isolated Watkins who has 3 centre backs on him isn’t the answer. We need to start actually playing it through the middle of the park. Either that or sack it off and play long balls over the top with Bailey on.
brummybloke
Only positive is we are a 1 half team, let's hope our half is the next one. Fingers crossed as it really can be worse than that first half.

Be a badly run club with awful players but then a sugar daddy comes in and you can instantly buy ballers like Trippier who can make a difference. Or you can be Man City - terrible club always being relegated - get bought and now look at them. These big take overs are ruining everything with no level playing field. Yes this definitely didn't happen to us when we couldn't even afford to pay a tax bill...

If we are not getting points from games like these at the moment where are we getting them? My concern is sleep walking into a very uncomfortable/embarrassing end to the season with only 27 points so far.
sidcow Posted February 13, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted February 13, 2022 Watching that free kick back I blame that on MacPhee. Some weird avant-garde defensive position with Buendia. Should have just had a bigger wall. Not at all sure what that was all about.

Same happened in the 3-2 loss against Arsenal in our first season back. There were 3 fouls on our players before the foul by chambers. Funnily enough a penalty would have been better for us lol. Bastards have ruined my weekend. We’re so lethargic. Joelinton shouldn't be on the pitch. He's got away with so much. We allow ourselves to be bullied too easily. Booked SJM when he got the ball, allowed them to stand too close to our wall which helped them score. Lets there players kick ours and get away with it, blows every time we clip there players. that enough?

Herman22
That half can be summed up in one sentence. “We don’t have any player who can take the ball off the central defenders.” Newcastle know if they put pressure on the central defenders we don’t have anyone with the confidence to take the ball in midfield. So the defenders play it to each other and then have to knock it long.
