Because there are lots of possibilities at the start - and let's face it most of the sums will be 2 numbers, symbol, 2 numbers, =, 2 numbers - when you get a change to that it throws you all off! This is your mistake. My tactic in my opening equation is to have the two most common operators (* and +) and the equals sign in the last but two position as that is the most common plus obviously 5 different digits.
