Decent at bringing the ball out of defence from what I’ve seen of him. Snubbed United and signed a new contract with Ajax I believe.
Villatillidie95
Pape Sarr available from Spurs. We should go after him, think he would add depth to our midfield options, will add a bit of power and height and an improvement on some of the other squad options we have in that position, such as Nakamba. andym
Obviously very disappointing with the injury, but CB is the one position we actually have decent depth, particularly compared to other 'similar teams'. For example, West Ham's new big money CB signing has had to have ankle surgery, so they are down to Zouma, Ogbonna and Craig Dawson. If Palace lose Guehi or Andersen they are down to James Tomkins or playing one of their new young defenders. As bad as Mings and Konsa looked last year, they'd looked pretty solid the year before, Chambers didn't do much wrong when needed last season. Time for the manager to earn his corn and find a way around it - he's in the job because he's meant to be better than the last manager who couldn't find a way to make it work without a certain player. If he's concerned about ball progression from the back, maybe there's the option to bring in Luiz to play alongside Kamara at the base of the midfield - both are comfortable collecting the ball deep and under pressure, and it also leaves us more solid in the middle when we don't have the ball. Even against Everton, there were plenty of times we were opened up as we have full backs attacking then McGinn, Ramsey and Coutinho also getting caught too high and too far apart.

When u have a serious injury to a key player it may be necessary to paper over the cracks. If we had Sarr, he would arguable be an improvement on our no 6 from last season and Boubs would be available as a CB. We could switch our CBs around a bit and we could even swap Boubs and Chambers midgame. It would gives us options to cope with losing Carlos. It is not ideal but an option. The ideal is we will get a direct replacement for Carlos

If Gerrard has more faith in put best midfielder so far as a replacement for Carlos were in a world of trouble because the alternative of mcginn,Luiz,Ramsey in midfield will.send us down. What we'd lose from not having Kamara in DM far outweighs what we'd gain from having him in defence over Chambers or whoever.

We need to add to Kamara in midfield someone to complement him.not shove him to CB and replace him from midfield and make no push forward due to a pathetic weak Midfield. Sarr should be a possible addition not direct replacement for Kamara in midfield. Edited August 15, 2022 by villan501

Mentioning Guehi and Andersen at Palace underlines Villa’s problem. We may have ”depth”, as we have a number of CB’s, but none are really that good.
