I was never sold on Hickey. Would of been a waste of money. He very lightweight and raw. We have plenty of decent-good players like him in our u21 squad.

Just because Alan Nixon, The Sun, Football Insider and the rest of the media aren't linking us to players doesn't mean Lange and co arent working on deals behind closed doors.
Look at the Ings deal, Announced in mostly secret fashion.
Patience Villa fans.

Do you and your @beachboys1persona argue at night about these things?

Agree about the patience.plenty of time left.

Ings was very much the exception though -the vast majority of transfers we get wind of before they happen.

If a deal for incoming player was close we'd most likely have heard about it by now.

There wasn't much talk of Diego Carlos until we actually agreed the deal.

Ings isn't a great example as just seems we did that on a whim post Grealish to appease fanbase without little idea how he'd fit into the team structure and that was evident for most of the season.

Hopefully whichever CM we're looking at we've been keeping tabs on long term rather than they've just been offered to us by an agent.

Kamara wasn't expected. We all thought he would turn us down
Carlos was done so fast their wasn't much talk for weeks and weeks, it just come from nowhere.

I expect another to come from nowhere and actually be legit.

Kamara had been touted for a good while -albeit it was a pleasant surprise when he chose villa given the other clubs interested.

Doesn't really matter how they arrive so long as they are on board by Aug 31.

It's gets harder now though -as we have some damm fine players as it stands - so bringing in superior players isn't that easy.

We've got enough quality on board to be competitive in the PL.

Kamara had been linked since the 3 of them got pictured at a game in April (?)

Messi11 is right in general though, we are a tight ship, Ings was a special case because of just how secret it was but there's been plenty of quiet ones and ones done with seemingly one or two days notice

Twitter is in a flurry about who is the “low ranked premiership team” bidding for Memphis Depay. Lot of people thinking it’s Villa.

im not sure if I’m insulted or happy about that

Both insulted and worried. A club should strive to have as few players as possible who have their own street wear labels and/or rap careers.

The media reluctantly linked Kamara to us after Gerrard, Purslow and Lange were pictured watching him.

The links were mostly still leading with Atleti or AC Milan links. Most of the media tried to say we were more interested in Caleta-Car.

There was bound to be links after the pictures - but nobody even took a punt on saying we were confident of getting him until maybe a couple days before hand. It's mad really. Had that been Howe or Ten Hag pictured watching him, media would've been lit up with Newcastle or United sealing huge talent and stealing him away from Madrid
