So the following information is through an industry colleague who was with Gerrard within the past week and comes direct from him!........

+ We still want an '8'. There's a deal in place for Yves Bissouma – both clubs happy to do pull the trigger for 30m. BUT the player has stopped communicating with either side so there may be new interest from other clubs he is working through with agents.

+ If we were to sign Bissouma, Douglas Luiz would be sold. Gerrard thinks he slows us down too much.

+ One of the reasons Diego Carlos was prioritised is his abilty to play on either side of the centre back partnership. Therefore pressure on both Mings and Konsa simultaneously. Both know the shirt is theirs if their form is better than the other.

+ Luis Suarez's knee is in bad way - very unlikely we persue that.

+ Wants to give Bailey year 2. Doesn’t fancy Traore – says he’s amazing in training then cocks everything up when he gets on the pitch.

+ Keinan Davis will be sold as long as Forest don't play silly buggers regarding the fee. Cameron Archer and Tim Ireogbunam will get loans to Championship clubs.

Interesting stuff. Nothing said on Sanson?

With Davis looking to be sold and Archer potentially heading out on loan, I would assume a striker is coming in.

Just speaking hypothetically how many CL clubs would be in a position to buy Richarlison?

Difficult to think of many outside of PL who would have the finances available to buy him. Are Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool or City going to buy him?

So if he wants to leave Everton for a new challenge after 4/5 yrs he’ll probably have to pick the project he believes in most.

Didn't PSG sign Moise Kean off Everton so think they're the type of club that would have Richarlison although probably less chance of them being interested this season with Mbappe staying on.

Barcelona been linked in the past.

If Bissouma is messing us about or just seeing us as plan C option I'd reluctantly move on from that deal as that's wrong vibes right there. Can see him ending up at Newcastle or one of the London clubs.

Just hope it's not like January....we don't sign him and there's no one else in pipeline as it's important we get someone to help out Kamara rather than put all the pressure on him start of the season to sweep up everything defensively.

Rest of stuff fits in with how Gerrard was picking the team end of the season. Get the feeling we'll have to loan Traore out though but given he did a decent job in 20/21 surely a few mid rank european clubs will show an interest.

Richarlison is a very good player, but he's not the player we need. We need a clinical striker. We miss too many chances.

So has Gerrard been round Bissouma’s house yet and explained the project?

It's a dangerous game signing players who aren't commited AND paying them big wages.

Hopefully it's his agent pissing about and not him.

If you were head hunted in your profession, would you accept the first offer that came your way or would you take the time to consider your options especially if those options included different financial packages, different scope for development/opportunity and different locations? Would you think it was fair if people considered you to be pissing about if you didn’t make an immediate decision?

I think Bissouma will have better offers than us, he has every right to choose one of those just as we have every right to have some alternate options.

He went round but Bissouma wasn't there, he was at a local nightclub, misbehaving.

Allegedly :)

I’m loving that we are signing players that will make us harder to beat. If we get Bissouma our midfield options will be phenomenal and along with Kamara and Carlos, it really should help us to hold on to games

Haha take us seriously! And yet some Villa fans think they have a chance of signing Richarlison.

Honestly and i mean no disrespect here why would Richarlison leave Everton for Villa? The fact is he wont in the same way Watkins wouldn't leave Villa for Everton.

Its clear for everyone to see he loves the club he is at but he wants to win things and play in the CL. He will only move from us to a club who's in a position to offer him that immediately and that's not Villa.

You might make an offer the club accept but the player would refuse as he still has 2 years left on his contract.

Teams like Everton, Villa, Newcastle......are clubs that are positioned in terms of Status, by how the club is run, and the potential that prospective new recruits perceive them to have.....We all know they are big clubs, steeped in history.

Last season for all 3 of us was poor, with only Newcastle, showing any signs of real recovery, after January.......under Gerrard we would have finished 9th, if you extrapolate the season out......your team just escaped, like we did 2 seasons ago.

3 big clubs that will attract most players, when they are run right.........and being run right, might get us all in to the European places......that is the thinking of new prospects.

Its up to any new recruits as to how they see the various projects sold to them, and if they believe in the future plans.....That's what encourages them to sign.

Its up to us all, to change our perceived profile......but its no good either, putting ourselves down.

I have felt like the only one on this forum who couldn’t give a shiny sh*t about signing Bissouma and I would be delighted if we did a Villa special and just announced someone completely different out of nowhere.

I reckon the reason we " prioritise " PL experienced players for certain positions is due to the obvious.

However, if they are taking the piss, or the demands are too much, we probably just go for an out of League alternative which probably has a higher ceiling and costs less

That describes my impression of Traore perfectly. At times he looks a phenomenal talent.

At 25 years old and looking at probably signing a 5 year contract, this is one of the most important decisions Bissouma will have to make in his footballing career. He will have many suiters and he needs to get this right. Taking some time to reflect and weigh up his options is the right thing to do. I would much prefer him to take a few weeks to think about it and then join Villa because he believes it is the right move for him rather than see a contract that will be worth 30m plus and getting a hard on and just signing without thinking.
