We beat Norwich and Leicester but lost against Liverpool, Chelsea, United and Brentford since he got injured. We would've likely lost 3 of those 4 with or without Nakamba. And I would argue we were unlucky to have lost the last 2. Prior to that, we beat Brighton and Palace but lost to City. It's not a large sample but it's not like we were unbeatable with Nakamba. We beat some mid-table teams and lost to a top one. Which is largely our form post his injury. QldVilla Posted January 13, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted January 13, 2022 Been wanting a proper DM for the past two seasons and have to say Bissouma was never on my radar, but he impressed me when we played them a few weeks ago, their CD’s were under the pump against us and he saved them on numerous occasions. We seem to be able to convince players that may be looking for CL football to join Villa and the ‘project’. However that doesn’t mean we don’t need a strong central midfielder. Gerrard has said we need to close the gap between playing well and losing and playing well and winning. He’s a proven very good premier league player, that’s the going rate if not more. I really can’t see us “losing” money on him if it goes through at that. This would be our best transfer window in memory if we land him. I'm certain we are going for him because Gerrard has so far only signed top quality and he will need this department sorted if he has any hope of Villa playing how he wants. The goal we got was an own goal. Thoroughly depressing game. We couldn't register a shot on target - and Chelsea looked like scoring with every move. Very even first half but then Lukaku changed game at half time and they got ahead. We huffed and puffed but didnt create much. Was another one of those 45 mins performances.
