If we don't get £25m for him we book a loss as Barca hold a sell on clause. So unless we agreed something with Barca to reduce the sell on it's not likely he can be sold. A loan doesn't do anything for us either as it'll just drop his value as he's not playing and proper football

A loan will reduce the amount we are paying on his wage. I say reduce as no club will ever pay his full wages. It will just claw back some of the money lost on this transfer, which has another 3 years to run.

If Emery thinks he can get something out of him, I'm 100% behind him, but imagine getting our money back? Yes please

If its true about Barca having a 50% sell on fee we won't be getting our money back.

We could start him in all the cup games to showcase him for a January sale. Get a little more mileage out of him in lower stakes competitions. And if he really impresses, we might even keep him.

A loan for a year with an obligation fee of £17.5m would mean we’d break even on FFP.

I doubt it happens though, Coutinho doesn’t seem to be the kind of person who would move there.

How many games has he actually finished a full 90mins? By the 60th min he’s looking knackered, if we got a decent fee get him gone

That's at PL levels though.  At Saudi Arabia level, he could probably play two full games a day blindfolded with his left legs in a cats.

Apart from it being 150.000 degrees hot. They do have air condition on the streets so the stadiums are probably the same.

I think he will link up with his old mate in Saudi now.

See i don't even believe that PC and Gerrard are such great mates. What evidence is there of this other than that they played together some years ago at Liverpool? Have you seen any pics of the families socialising? Yet there are loads of his family socialising with our other South Americans - surely THEY are his mates?

Why loan?? Sell sell sell, before people decide they don’t want to play there

I’d be surprised if Gerrard went in for Coutinho. I think if Emery wants him to stay he will, he might be mates with Gerrard but he also knows he can’t coach. He would be going for the money like so many of these apparently professional footballers with no ambition.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Gerrard wants him, in fact I’d be surprised if he didn’t go after him.  The Saudi league want stars, bringing in Gerrard hoping to attract stars even though very few will go.  Coutinho despite his struggles has a big profile which they’ll love and easy for Gerrard to attract.  Seems an easy transfer.  Just depends if Emery wants to keep Coutinho and that is the unknown.

Makes sense for all parties. Coutinho seemingly hasn't much left in the tank but could shine playing at a lower level and is still a big name. Wouldn't be surprised if this hasn't already been talked about. Just depends if he wants to go over there.

I'd prefer him to stay and rediscover some form and consistency but it could be another ings type opportunity.

If Coutinho stays, which I'm fairly sure he will, he'll be very important and very good for us this season.

We’d all like to think so, but if the option was there to recover 75-80% of his fee I’d definitely sell and reinvest that money.
