Surely he's someone he will try and offload at the end of the season.

based on? when he's been fit, he's played under emery. he scored for us just 2 months ago. a nice goal too

The scenes when he scores a last-minute winner vs Brighton to secure European football.

Hopefully he's fit soon as it would be good to have another option on the bench at least. He's been out for over two months now so longer injury than the one he got just before the World cup.

Funnily enough he was starting to play well just before the latest one, I liked what I saw when he came on v Leicester and had that goal disallowed and then he started v Arsenal so looked positive for the first time in many months.

However perhaps we wouldn't have gone on such a good run as he'd have probably started further games and his absence has really meant Buendia has finally become the player we know he can be in the final third.

Still I called it with Traore and I'll say it again, Coutinho if he's fit will at some point score a big goal for us in one of the May games. 95th minute winner infront of the Kop sounds a good one to me....

Whoa. You are suggesting that Phil Couthino played in that game.  The one where people universally accept that we could easily have got a point and played exceptionally well against the best team in the league.

THAT my friend does not compute.

Im 99.8% he will be offliaded in the summer

Another wesley situation be loaned each season we cover alot of the wages until his contract expires

Offloaded in the sense he will go out on loan and we will probably also have to pay over half his wages, then yes.

He started the Arsenal game well, but was a non-entity in the game by half-time.

Technically he's obviously a fantastic player - but he's just so physically limited. He's slow, weak and he's knackered after 30 minutes. I can't see how he fits into our current team, unless it's as an option off the bench to chase a game (which, if that's his role, he would be being incredibly overpaid to do).

The way we are currently playing, we are creating a lot of space for our attacking players. Coutinho doesn’t have the legs to go past people now although the close control is there, but if he received the ball in space he’s still got a deadly strike on him. So if fit, I could still see him have an impact this season.

I agree about the fitness, but sometimes teams need a match winner on the bench. If he came off the bench and won us 3/4 games, that got us into Europe, then I wouldn’t say he’d be overpaid.

Honestly think some are being a bit hard on Coutinho, he's been unlucky with injuries this season, and no one played well under Gerrard. I'd still like to see what he can do under a proper coach / manager - he was class in his day maybe Emery can get him back to those levels? If he did we'd have a hell of a player, and he's surely still got some decent years ahead if he looks after himself?

Utlimately, whatever Emery decides goes and I'll back it 100% if he wants to move him on, but wouldn't be so quick to write him off personally!

But but he was Stevie's mate supposedly. That's what some can't get past. Has anyone seen any evidence of him socialising with  SG?   I just see him and his family socialising with the other South Americans and their families  and now lately Moreno too has joined the little clan. Also how does anyone know that he is on massive wages (well yes compared to us obv).

He suffered as much as anyone from football under Gerrard and he could benefit as much as anyone from football under Emery. I think our current style of not panicking on the ball around the box and looking for the right passes might suit him to a tee.
