Xann
Dave Smith, MIDI inventor and synthesiser designer. As Sequential Circuits he made a number of benchmark instruments, including the first polyphonic (able to play chords rather than a single note) and programmable synth, the Prophet 5. A handful of his synth designs are so prized today that Behringer has seen fit to reprise them as hardware. This was a great era of soft Rock - Seals and Crofts , England Dan and John Ford Coley etc.

It surprised me to, even though it's not exactly in my specialised subjects, I'd like to think I'd have at least have heard of them, rang absolutely no bells at all

My immediate reactions are 1. Someone has sampled those first notes 2. Mark Albrighton Posted June 8, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 8, 2022 I know “Summer Breeze” but mainly because it’s Ted’s guilty pleasure song in How I Met Your Mother which he sings in an attempt to win over a potential love interest whom he knows also considers it a guilty pleasure song. I’m not sure why I remember that.

It's a standard. That said we all have occasional blindspots.

And the Isleys' version was WAY better.
il_serpente Posted June 8, 2022 VT Supporter Share Posted June 8, 2022 I’m surprised that @bickster doesn’t know them or Summer Breeze and also that the rest of you don’t know this one as well: Then again, perhaps I only know them because they were big when I was a pre-teen listening to Top 40 radio in the US. I know them and that but here, the song Summer breeze is known, not necessarily them or any of their other hits.
