wishywashy
Very pleasant news, given the various teething problems with the Vitoria partnership, thanks to UEFA. And J League is being introduced to FM24. That's that save sorted. Edited October 19, 2023 by wishywashy

wishywashy
Vissel Kobe are owned by Rakuten. Interestingly, they had a thing going with Barcelona for a few years, with a strategic partnership like ours (seemingly just for one or two seasons), Rakuten as Barca's sponsor for three years (and a partner for longer) and Inieista signing for them. Rakuten on the front of our shirts next season for £40m? I'll take it!
nepal_villan
Seems like a technical partnership. Nothing to get overly excited about unless we see Rakuten (parent company of Vissel) sponsoring Villa.
sne
What an earthquake of a news story. Trying to beef up our share of the Asian market I guess. Let's hope this one doesn't crash like the Vitoria SG deal did.

There's a video statement from Sawiris on the official site The J league is about the same level as the Australian A league so I wouldn't be getting overly exicted the A league is pretty crap tbh! You either accept the things you cannot change and deal with it, or go and find some back water sport where modern day realities don’t apply

Thats also plausible, not particularly successful or even well known in the UK, they've got potential for growth being linked with us Rakuten also hand out incredibly lucrative sponsorship deals. Their sponsorship with the golden state warriors has been the largest in north American sports since the nba allowed sponsors.

Japan is a wealthy nation with 120 million people. Athletic achievement as a nation strongly correlates with wealth and population. Japan is a massively untapped market for athletic talent in football Look at south Korea a country with a population half the size and they've produced son, kang-in and min chae all of whom are in the top 100 in the world atm. Japans largest sport is baseball and they've arguably produced the most talented baseball player ever in shohei ohtani who when he was fit the last few seasons was the best pitcher and batter in the sport.
