Designer1 Posted December 3, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted December 3, 2021 Still a few weeks to go so there may be a couple of additions, but these are my top 20 so far. Very decent year imo.

villa4europe
Leaving myself open for "that was last year" award season films are always staggered releases anyway but then with corona official release dates are all over the place Judas and the black messiah for me, brilliant film, the father a close 2nd then a big gap to everything else Special mentions to concrete cowboy, luca, palm springs Feels like I've watched a lot of decent but not great 7/10 films this year

Sound of Metal for instance shows as a 2019 movie, but didn't get a proper UK release until 2021.
villa4europe
I had a quick look at the father on wiki, said a June 2021 release, I'm guessing that's the delayed cinema release due to rona, I'd watched it way before then Its hard in a normal year anyway with the US / UK dates being different Edited December 3, 2021 by villa4europe
Rodders
Going on my quick spreadsheet marks out of 10 results it appears my simplistic top 12 ( scores tied on 7.5 ) were Sound of Metal Nomadland A Quiet Place part 2 Tick Tick Boom! The White Tiger Another Round The Courier Free Guy Spencer Dune Palm Springs The Dig However, there were a few solid efforts below that, Cop Shop, Bond and Many Saints of Newark. A Celine Sciamma film doesn't even make this list though I was a bit underwhelmed by Petite Maman sadly.
theboyangel
Right, as I’ve a spare five minutes! Definitely released in 2021: Sound of Metal I Care A Lot Palm Springs (Film of the year) Promising Young Woman Nobody Pig St Maud Dune Nomadland Shang-Chi * Jungle Cruise * Free Guy * * watched and enjoyed with the kids! Not quite 2021 (but watched in 2021) Parasite Welcome To Marwen Midsommar Ready Or Not
