chappy Posted November 11, 2021 Share Posted November 11, 2021 I’ve spoken to a few Liverpool fans at work today and none of them can understand why I’m not absolutely thrilled by this appointment. Even though they were saying how good it is for him to get some PL experience before going there… I worry we are going to become the Steven Gerrard circus in the media. Sorry mate, it’s a daft question given the context. We should be after them once they have earned their stripes and not as part of them earning their stripes. I’m slowly getting on the Gerrard train, I really am but questions like this are pulling me back to underwhelmed place because surely we are at a stage that we have infrastructure, squad and owners that would be attractive to quality coaches and not somebody proving themselves. Start off not knowing what you are doing - Gerrard coaching Liverpool youth teams for 15 month first with the U18’s then U19’s while doing his coaching qualifications. Doing it and getting better - Going to Rangers doing quite well in his first season then winning the league in his second going unbeaten. Our social media following will grow and lead to improved commercial deals. Wouldn’t be surprised if Adidas now are the next kit manufacturer - forget the NS links - Gerrard was sponsored by them throughout his career, harsh as it may sound now Smiths been replaced with Gerrard and in marketing terms we are now more attractive to (certain) sponsors.
