Well if you think finishing mid table in the Premier League is easy then I guess you right. No pressure.

Might be as good as we can get right now - I think he keep us safe. I'd certainly take him over Terry/lampard/Gerrard.

They are also getting a reputation of creating but missing chances. I wonder if they need a decent striker and if they had one, how would that impact their results. Maybe if they had Ings and Watkins they would be higher up the league that 7th

hippo
We might shortly have competition from Leicester for a new manager.

Popular Post NurembergVillan Posted November 8, 2021 Moderator Popular Post Share Posted November 8, 2021 I'm finding it interesting that Steven Gerrard is being ruled out on the grounds of "not achieving anything worthwhile", yet when Deano was appointed he'd managed Walsall and Brentford. And then there's the "he'll only see us as a stepping stone to Liverpool". Well, if we appoint another manager where Aston Villa is the height of their ambition we'll never get anywhere. Same with players - Leon Bailey hasn't arrived here thinking "that's me done - career goals ticked". There's so much more that goes into being a good manager (or head coach) than what we see for 90 minutes a week, and the people undertaking our hiring process will know far more about the merits of each candidate than we could dream of. We're going to have to be open-minded on this one. There are a handful of managers in the world who would please everyone at just the mention of their name, and we're not about to hire any of them. Whoever comes in is a gamble. Where Purslow and Lange earn their money is ensuring the odds are in our favour. Like they (well, Purslow) did last time.

He's been linked with a fair few jobs recently and it wouldn't shock me to see him move back to club football soon. I also don't think Belgium would be too upset by that either. Just a feeling, no real logic to back it up haha.
useless
The pressure on Gerrard wasn't to finish top two, that alone wouldn't have been considered good enough, the pressure was to end Celtic's dominance, which he achieved to the point where Rangers have become the dominant team.

Would be **** woeful to go for him. Scottish league is a useless indicator of capabilities, especially at either Rangers / Celtic @Eastie and @AvfcRigo82 are both stating that he is the one the club are going for and that he’s interested. That’s the main fuel of the Gerrard speculation. He wouldn’t be my first choice (the more I read about Favre, the more I like). But I’m not as against the notion of Gerrard than I was when he was first mooted. It is the Scottish league, but he’s gone there and won it after years of Celtic dominance, last year looks very impressive.
