If they were I reckon there is something in the Gerrard interest for it to drop from 12-1 to odds on. villan-scott Posted November 7, 2021 VT Supporter Share Posted November 7, 2021 Pretty sure Gerrard and Purslow massively clashed at Liverpool so really can’t see it being him. Who it will be, I have no idea. I hope it’s locked in and sorted already, so that we can get things moving quickly.

ciggiesnbeer
Nothing against Gerrard seems like a good manager. But I dont want another red making moon eyes at Liverpool when they are our manager. It bothered me with Houillier.
DCJonah
Getting rid of Smith for Gerrard is quite the gamble. I'm excited by the prospect but I can also imagine in a couple of years we might be having the same arguments.

MWARLEY2
All we know is that this appointment is most likely to be based heavily on stats. They will be looking deeply into things like winning from losing positions , tactical flexibility how many tackles midfielders in their teams make and short and long pass percentages both forward and back and the physical make up of the teams the manager is in charge of. Just think of the worlds biggest spreadsheet and i dont think you would be far wrong. Long gone are the days of jobs for the boys.
est1874
Huge risk, Gerrard. He'd need balls of steel to come here too, knowing if he stuffs up Aston Villa he'll never have any hope of managing his beloved Liverpool.

Tommo_b
I guess the good thing if it was Gerrard is that you’d imagine he would be determined as hell to make an impact and prove he could do it in the premier league.

Mourinho would be the most meltdown signing of all time... Roma played well today, despite the score line. Historically, the Roma manager's position is one of the biggest poisoned chalices in Europe. You'll always be under intense scrutiny, regardless of the results on the pitch. He's going no where.
