Christmas 2021

This year’s Christmas cracker surprise. I’ve resisted the temptation to wear it.

So far.

I won’t retell this year’s joke, suffice to say it culminated in a reindeer/rain dear punchline.

Do people have mash on a Christmas dinner?

Don't mind it but there's just no room what with meat, roasters, parsnips, carrots, petit poi's, pigs in blankets and stuffing

Boiled potatoes are crap at the best of times but they go against one of the main principles of Christmas, which is to get as much fat, butter, and/or alcohol into everything as possible.

I prefer boiled potatoes over every other way of doing them

Kept on top of the tidying up much to the pleasure of the missus .  I’ll need to Hoover the whole house before I can settle later.  Sending kids up about 7.15 then we usually put an old black and white film on which the wife nods off to.

The hostess trolley? What the **** world do you live in? :D

We own a hostess trolley, covered in a table cloth . It currently has the front room TV and phone on it and houses the printer and paraphernalia underneath. In truth I don't even know if it works.

We also have a hostess table top warmer that we do use for big dinners which sits on the kitchen worktop.

With just the four of us we didn't use it but I actually just noticed that with all the extra faffing that goes with Christmas dinner over a normal Sunday lunch the food wasn't as warm as normal than when we have 2 or 3 times the people.

Why I keep having turkey I’ll never know. Cracking dinner apart from the turkey.

I actually love Turkey. I'll usually have Turkey at a Carvery over any other option.

For some reason this bit jumped out first and then I saw you were talking about tidying up.

Well we've done.

The Covid riddled lad sat at the head of the table via facetime on daughters new mac book.

Mrs Sidcow had excelled with the crackers, proper deluxe ones.

Only hiccup all day has been the Mac book.

Mrs Sidcow bought it with bonus money and also ordered a Microsoft Office pack.  Daughter (doing A level photography) needed a Mac book which I know zero about.  She loaded it up but couldn't get the Microsoft on it.

Mrs Sidcow has HUGE issues with technology. Literally ANYTHING she tries to do will go wrong and have her in tears.

So I was spending ages faffing decided it was because she already had a Microsoft account on her HP laptop linked to her email. Set up a Yahoo mail account to try make it work, it wouldn't.  Mrs Sidcow is getting in a state about it all.

Finally I just noticed that she had left a tiny bit of silver over the access code she was trying to input and hey presto the letter Z suddenly turned into a 2.  Then the code worked thank ****.   Christmas was in the balance for half an hour!

Anyway now finished and tidied so just waiting for dinner to digest so we can start thinking about when we can try eating puddings.
