Having to do a mini rebuild every season after selling their star players is not sustainable on the pitch. Finances no doubt fine thou Very one dimensional team too. Injuries or not, they conceded a lot of goals. Teams know how to play against them. It will be interesting to see if a new manager tries to inject a different style. For him to walk away from a multi million pounds contract then either he has something better lined up or be really, really hated being at Brighton. If it was something else like health/family reasons then he wouldn't be wanting to work again soon.

Brighton are probably happy for him to go as he is an over rated manager (I said this a few pages ago and was piled on). Conversely, he probably doesn't feel he can reinvest the money raised, and will dilute his image from this apparent next level manager to a mid / lower table PL manager. In his first full season, he finished 11th and 48 points, a worrying fall from 6th and 62 points, which is a team he inherited from Potter. Clearly for the best they shook hands and went separate ways. Edited May 21 by pas5898

He was hired in September of the season in which they finished 6th - which is basically an entire season - but gets no credit; it was all down to Potter?

Yeah, I heard he's a massive far-right di Canio/Mussolini loving Nazi and hated being around wooly wuffdas who enjoyed bum sex* *Okay, maybe not. Tommo_b
Beat Villareal 4-0 yesterday, think they could finish high up the league again this season. Mitoma is back from injury, Minteh looks like a talent and Pedro has an eye for goal. Think they will play a high line like us this season so will be relying on the automated offsides a lot. Be between us and them who catch most teams offside.

I assume they've signed a couple of new CMs from abroad but they're rejecting bids for Billy Gilmour, Milner is nearly 40 and Solly March is coming back from an ACL so think it's a bit like us, lots of talented attackers but could be overpowered in central midfield, especially away from home. And then it's quite possible that you could still sell them for significant profit if they perform well (with you probably higher up the table). So they did push the boat out this Summer and start shopping in that next bracket up.

Certainly did, slow and steady, methodical. Brighton are sticking around for a long long time, as long as Tony Bloom stays the owner.

Seems to me our strategy is working out okay. Tony Bloom is an excellent owner and knows what he's doing but there's always a glass ceiling for clubs who try the Brentford/Brighton moneyball model. Eventually you buy some duds or can't sell players at a profit or your wage bill gets too high. Also losing your best players regularly will eventually take a toll. Lastly not every managerial appointment will work out. I see them ending up like palace or Fulham. Stuck in mid table with the odd good season that gets them conference league.

Which would be a fantastic achievement for a club of their size and stature. This would be equivalent to us constantly finishing in top 3 or something like that.
