Why would u like that:? Purslow et al are trying to make Villa better, so why would you like something that is contradictory to something that was previously stated? What is the motivation?
Delphinho123
If Brighton do want £50m for Bissouma, I wonder if we’ll do the deal. Its probably £10-15m too much but we may only have a sniff of signing him because it’s January and other clubs, for whatever reason, can’t do the deal until Summer. A point also worth making is, we could double his wages to 100k a week. He may want more than that and wait until the summer but that’s another 6 months on £45k a week. If he moves now and secures 100k a week, that’s an extra £1.2m in his back pocket (less tax etc.). Not an insignificant amount of money! I think the deal has legs. Potters comments alluded to players possibly leaving in January and the noise around the deal is starting to grow. We’re also being extremely aggressive in the market. It seems at the moment that whoever we go for, we get the deal done. Edited January 9, 2022 by Delphinho123
Delphinho123
Anyone else think we may entertain a bid for Watkins this January? I don’t know who from, but just thinking at some point we may need to sell another asset!

Not sure if you've misread as I'm not suggesting I don't want ambitious plans to come to fruition. I was just poking fun at how there's always several "nah he's too old, remember what Pursow said" posts, tweets etc every time we're linked to a well-known player above the age of 23 or indeed actually sign one (Young, Ings, Coutinho etc). It's quite clear from our activity since that interview that Purslow didn't literally mean the club would be exclusively signing players within those parameters, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that either. It's good to supplement those "project" signings with high-level, experienced players that they can learn from. Especially when there's an element of short-termism in the sense of how quickly the owners want to get into the European places.
thunderball
Wow. Gerrard’s mantra is “no excuses”, he is really setting himself up here. Exciting times, progress and courage in our conviction is really quite unbelievable. Sadly I think 11 defeats makes any getting anything from the season very tough. I expect a big response in the Cup game tomorrow.

I suppose the question is, if one of them leave, who is the quality backup?, or who could we sign as backup for not silly money.

We paid £33m for a striker unproven in the premier league. 14 goals (no pens) last season …. I’d want another £30m on top, or they could jog on.

AntrimBlack
So we finally get 2 top class strikers, something we badly needed, and now we should sell one. That's just crazy.
