And he was excellent in Smith's second year? As good as we were, we were not as good as the Roma team that finished what, 3rd? Yet Ollie was only 3 goals of Tammy's tally. Even in his relatively poor year last year where we finished 14th, he still got 11 goals.

Ollie wasnt excellent in his 2nd year. He was excellent in his 1st ok to average in his 2nd and dog shit this year so far.

Gimme tammy any day

except the XG actually shows that Watkins is a better finisher than Tammy. Since 2020 season when Watkins got in the top flight yet Watkins has played more minutes and is getting fewer chances

Tammy XG is 32.66 for 25 goals

Ollie XG is 29.85 for 26 goals

I meant Smith's second season. I don't think there's much between them. Even in the Championship, they both scored 25 goals for the playoff-winning team.

£20m feels like a lot for a guy who only score 8 in 38 two seasons ago and missed almost all of this season.

Think he'd be an excellent signing IF he's happy to be back up to Watkins.

Not many teams in the league could boast a 1-2 up front better than Watkins and Abraham.

Are you joking? Abraham isn't anywhere near the required level to play for a top 4 PL club.

A very good Championship striker, but not more than that. His goalscoring record is awful at this level.

In 2020 he finished 4th with Chelsea, scoring 15 goals. In 2022 he finished 6th in Serie A with Roma, scoring 17 goals.

How is he Championship level? Maybe he's not good enough to start for a top 4 team (hence signing him to be backup to Watkins), but he's clearly miles above Championship level. Backup strikers are hard to come by. Abraham would be perfect to play in domestic cups or in the odd PL game when Watkins needs a rest.

8 goals from an xG of 10, so scored more or less what he was expected to based on the chances he got.  Is the limited chances his fault, or the teams perhaps?

Both I guess

Even for a CL club a £100k/w back up striker is a lot. Can't imagine he'll want a reduced salary if he moves back to the PL.

If he gets a fresh 4 or 5 year contract he might.

I’d take him at Villa. Lots of games next season.

For the right fee and the right salary yeah. As long as nothing bad shows up on the medical.

No better than Archer. There's a reason Roma are happy to sell.

We'll see if Archer get's a move to a top Serie A team
