Popular Post UpTheVilla26
For anyone wandering why Emi is such a big player for us, watch that back today. Nobody was getting into the pockets of space bewteen midfield and attack. There was often no out ball, our someone to knit play together. Watkins & Diaby hardly made a run in behind because they were having to come deep to receive passes. He's an absolute huge loss to this team.

Without him there’s no triangle/ quick passing interchange that split defense .. Watkins has not got much to work on today too without Buendia service
DJBOB
Said it before but we really miss him keeping possession and trying to play through. Grass is always greener but he was an important part of our run last year and we have no one to replace him immediately.

Yes , there’s isn’t another similar player like him in our squad .. only Coultiho is closed but he’s too injury prone and also lack the terrier like aggression in pressing and energy
Sulberto21
The main miss from him was his tenacity and pressure on the ball. No pressure on the ball and they were able to pick and choose their through balls. We need one or two more like him especially the work rate. Jareth
Could probably trace the whole course of events this week and today to Emi’s injury. 1

Luiz and kamara playing deep leaves a huge gap between our build up and attack and I don’t think tielemans can fill the gap like Buendia could.
Aston_Villan4
Didn’t realize Emi was a part of all 3 goals in the Newcastle game at the end of last season. Really missed him out there yesterday

Really missed him out there yesterday Think this is indicative of how he’s perceived by some. A lot of his good work goes unnoticed, as people only look at goals and assists. He creates plenty of chances that aren’t converted. It’s much more worrying to have a play making midfielder who doesn’t create, Emi does. I think he is guilty of having his weak spots are more easily seen than his strengths. The throwing up of his hands in the air when he doesn’t get a foul, him giving the ball away when trying too hard etc. but we’ll miss him a lot. He finds gaps, always moving, always hungry for the ball and has a lovely touch and great vision and can score. He’s also good defensively for us through his tenacity. All traits not easy to replace especially with the likes of Bailey who is woeful. Critically, we’ve lost quality squad depth losing Buendia and subsequently lost a strong option for Unai to use across the front line. His injury, along with Mings, is a huge dampener to not only the optimism within the club, but the momentum and cohesion built since Emery arrived. Could take a fair while to get us all gelling again.
