Breakaway League

The voting structure needs 14 clubs to agree to pass new rules and stuff so feasibly yes the clubs not invited with no prospect of ever getting in could just club together and vote out the splitters, it's a bit like the Rangers situation in 2012 when SPL basically voted to relegate them to the lowest pro Scottish league despite people thinking it wouldn't happen.

Yes but for Example - could you Norwich voting not play Man U, Man City, Liverpool next season ? - thats the very reason they got promoted.

How can do many smart people get something so wrong!

Greed!!💰💰💰

I have not heard much on where the billions of Euro will come from. I can only assume TV and sponsorship.

If the fans respond with boycotts as they did the the Covid TV charging that may shorten the longevity of this enterprise.

I also hope the Premier League, FA, EUFA et al, hold their nerve. They may actually have a stronger position than previously thought.

UTV

JP Morgan and this DAZN thing is going to show it.

Problem with boycotts is if this league is played infront of 10k at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge they'll just take the games to likes of China, Middle East and US. That will happen in future regardless of which league gets created anyway.

but these clubs also wanted to limit the Premier League to 18 teams so be harder for Norwich to get promoted if go down again

Of course, it's three games they won't be getting smashed in :)

If those owners want a super league - let them form one. But the clubs must be separate entities to the existing ones. IE they have a separate coach, players, etc for the SL - and they can't interchange between the two.

Yes that's the crux really. They're teams in premier league just content to stay up every year and have little interest in pushing to qualify for europe so they're just happy being part of things and raking in the revenue from the big games. We had that mindset 7-8 years ago after all.

Just like covid is slowly changing the world, last 24 hours have changed the next decades of football forever now. No idea what football will be like in even two years time now but it won't be like it is now which is far from perfect but at least has a reasonably competant structure to most of it.

What can the government do? Enforce nationalisation of football clubs? Yes. Push through 51% fan share holders. Yes. Take away licenses when it comes to alcohol, training premises, tax credits, loans etc. There's many things Boris can do to make this very painful for these Americans and saudis.

Daniel Levy would sell his own children for a chunk of cash. He probably already has.

I believe they were part of Spur's originally mooted part-exchange overtures for Grealish when we went down.

Still more appealing than the Josh Onomah offer, mind.

Damn it, Zatman got there first.

FIFA will probably come in be part of this super league. This stinks of FIFA.

PL are simply extending their own slow death if they let them stay in.

They should expell them all this week. Make them commit to this idea. Go on, go and do it. Good luck.

Yes, it will hurt the PL badly, but the PL will become an uncompetitive second-class competition within months. No glory for winners. No money for participants to improve. The PL are giving themselves a chance if they boot them and rebuild. Make some new stars.

What decent player would come and join Villa/Everton/West Ham this summer if this is allowed to stand? Why not just wait for a Spurs or Inter to come offer you five times the wages?

If they took the “product” to the Far East, it would expose it for exactly what it is!

They should if they have a brain.

The big PL money won't be there in three years. It will go to showing that super league.

Because they won't be able to play in the world cup?
