I hope Leeds beat Liverpool tonight and I hope those 6 clubs get beaten every time they play to be honest. This breakaway league does far more harm to us and football in general than finishing a couple of places lower in midtable. Leeds can lose to any of the other clubs but there's no chance I'll be rooting for one of these corrupt clubs in any game of football going forwards.
useless
Liverpool losing tonigh won't make any difference or change anything, Leeds losing benefits us and gives us a better chance of finishing higher up the league. All I care about is us doing as well as possible, Liverpool can lose their other games as long as it has no affect on us.

OutByEaster? Posted April 19, 2021 Moderator Share Posted April 19, 2021 So in 2021-22, European qualifiers will be: Super League - six shitbags. Champions league - the four teams that finish highest and aren't shitbags. Europa League - the FA Cup winners and the next highest league side that isn't a shitbag Europa Conference - League Cup winner So potentially thirteen Premier league clubs. I really hope this doesn't happen.

Can’t imagine it would be resolved in four months for an August start, there is far too much to sort of for it to go ahead that quickly even if parties were willing nevermind the current situation. useless
Presumably Leeds wouldn't accept a place in the champions league or Europa unless they finish there on merit, given their 'earn it' shirts tonight.
M_Afro
Leeds are such a good team. So long as Bielsa is in charge they will go from strength to strength. I really think they could threaten the top 4 next season with a few carefully selected transfers. 1
useless
Arsenal play Everton next and Leeds play Man Utd, so regardless of what happens on Wednesday, we could climb to nineth if we beat Albion. If we somehow managed to beat Man City then eighth would be a possibility.

As Souness said, Bielsa doesn’t care about conceding goals. That’s not a model for for a European level team.
Popular Post M_Afro
Apologies in advance for a long post but I have been thinking about the super league proposals and have realised that this is just the next (final) step in something that has been in the making for nearly 30 years and it will end up killing football for lots of people. When I was a kid, in most seasons you genuinely had a feeling that villa could compete for trophies. It was the thing that fuelled my obsession. The quality difference between the top of the league and the bottom was smaller and each club was on a more level playing field. The biggest clubs did not like this and in an attempt to stem the competition they invented the champions league. For a while this worked very nicely. Generally the same 4 clubs qualified for the cl on most occasions. This gave them a platform to massive world wide exposure, huge new fan bases and huge revenues. Over time these clubs moved further and further away from the rest. Job done! Then something very scary started to happen. Serious foreign investment came into the PL and all of a sudden the same 4 clubs didn’t qualify every season. Other clubs started to become big global players. The revenues of those top clubs came under pressure. What to do? Great idea. Let’s introduce financial fair play. We will limit clubs ambitions to their revenues. That way if rich owners come in they won’t be able to spend big in an attempt to compete with us! Status quo maintained. Then something else unforeseen occurred. A massive new PL deal that increased all PL club revenues so much that if they were careful they could maintain a smaller but very competitive squad. Big clubs could no longer destabilise them by buying all of their best players and a more level competitive field started to evolve. Result.......very nervy big club owners who despite investing in a SPORT have shown time and time again that they are absolutely petrified of competition. And, this is where we find ourselves today! On the brink of something that will kill football in this country for good. Our whole system is built upon the foundation that any team can achieve greatness. That’s what got me hooked as a little boy. My first match was the European Cup quarter final. I did not realise that we were on the brink of greatness. I didn’t know what greatness was. All I know is that ever since I have dreamed that one day we will return there. This will ensure that that is impossible. Simply grotesque as our leader described it. Simply grotesque indeed!!!!

They’re at 0 - a decent mid table figure. The only chance they’re threatening top 4 is if the big 6 do **** off.
Vive_La_Villa
Just looking at the table, if we don’t pick up a few points over the next 8 games, likely against palace and Albion, we could end up finishing as low as 14th. Unlikely I know, but we have a very tough run in.
VillaChris
On the flip side we messed up so much in March just with the Sheffield and Newcastle games. Two wins from that and we'd only be 6 points off 4th now with two games in hand and looking at what likes of Chelsea have left you'll probably be able to secure 4th on 65 points this season so with strong end to the season we'll end about 10 points adrift of that. Lowest amounts needed for top 4 for quite a few seasons that, could well be back to 70 + points next season which gives a scale of the task for coming years. Leeds possession v Man City 29% v Fulham 49% v Chelsea 38% 3 of their last five games their possession has been poorer. Yes against Liverpool they had some dominate some possession but Liverpool on the stats alone had far more chances to score than Leeds and weren’t clinical. I think you are slightly blinded by one game against Liverpool.

As I said, I hope I am wrong. I just think that they are real competition to us over the next few years.
