Ipswich supporters were nervous about this 20-year-old 11 years ago -- thought he wasn't ready.

I thought he looked good as RCB in pre season, but I think you could see that he is not used to play RB. Started solid and looked confident, but then made some basic mistakes that natural RB shouldn't do.

Ned has looked a little bit nervous, but you can see that he is a specialist RB.

I'm a bit frustrated that we haven't signed a new RB, we have needed one for two seasons now.

Thought he was all right until the second half wore on, definitely better on the ball than Cash but also more likely to lose it due to his willingness to try a tough pass or beat a press. He'll learn which ones he can and can't get away with, and he has to play games like this to do so.

Yeah he did fine, by and large, before a fresh Mavididi came on and it was a bit too much for him.

All in all, an encouraging performance.

Can’t say I’ve been able to watch the full match but from what I’ve seen he was ok.

One big issue was his passes, but I’d say most because he was nervous.

Really happy he started his first match, could’ve start as a CB, but as long as we win then that’s good.

I wanted Kosta to have a chance, but I think the plan is to start him at home. I think right now we have a good chance in goving players chances, as we really need them to step up.

Now that Dendonker left, Bogarde is the choice after Barkley I assume.

We need to rotate at the easier games. I don’t think it will be the end of the world if we played Bogarde or Swinkles in games like today. I’m not saying we should but we’ll have a lot of games, although we prioritize the league, but the lesser games we can approach differently.

I really like our management being this brave, as challenging as it is.

I hope we can see another Rogers in Kosta.

Worked well enough for Liverpool last year. Yes it’s risky but games like today are perfect to trust the youth players.

Not knocking it. Think he will learn a lot from today's experience. He's only going to get better.

I don't understand why Emery debuted player not in his specialised position? Why just not play Ned? They're equally inexperienced but at least Ned is used to playing RB.

I'm guessing that he has more information and understanding of the players than we do. Oh and also, he did explain why in press conferences this week. Bogarde has more positioning sense and fits into his system better than Nedeljkovic does at the moment.

There's a difference between saying that a player struggled but understanding the reason why and effectively saying he's **** and should never play for the club again.  I've had a very enjoyable discussion on today's match with @TRO where he was more nervy than I was about us coming away with 3 points.  That's fine.  I enjoy that kind of debate and discussion and finding out how other people have seen things slightly differently.  However, there have been a lot of completely bizarre and OTT responses on numerous threads where the only possible intent seems to be to cause a reaction from others.  I thought Bogarde did OK - he wasn't brilliant, he wasn't awful.  He did a few good things, he did a few not so good things and he did a lot of things that he can look back at and learn from.  Expecting him to come in and play as well as a seasoned international is completely unreasonable.

Cool.

I thought he was absolutely shit.
Im allowed to think that whilst acknowledging it was his debut and he’s a young player and he’s got a big future ahead of him; without being called a blue nose.

I'm old enough to remember Ugo's debut. Looked like he'd never played football before.

Conversely, I remember Nii Lamptey's debut too. Looked like the greatest footballer of all time.

Two perfect examples.  I'd love to "raise you" on either but I'm really struggling to think of a better example of either.

My person opinion.

We are a champions league team, he ain't no where near this level. An I doubt he ever will be.

Fair but let's go through the team and see where they all were at age 20. Wonder how many of them you would have watched and said they would one day be at Champions league level.

You're harsh. There's an argument he was shit but to add absolutely is going too far.

Excellent point. Just one example - Ollie Watkins had played approx 20 games in League Two at this age and 20 or so games in the Conference South for Weston Super Mare.

poor debut IMO. mitigating factors, yes, namely that it's not his favoured position. but we have to call it as we see it. plenty of others have had poor debuts and gone on to have amazing careers.

what i don't understand is, he's been fully match fit as far as i know for the first 2 games of the season and emery has given nedeljkovic a good few minutes in each game (and has played OK...certainly better than bogarde did today), only to then throw bogarde in out of nowhere from the start.

now the intricacies of emery's system and which of the two has better tactical understanding of it, only emery knows, and he clearly sees bogarde having better understanding as of today than ned. but the goal came from that side and i thought he should've done a lot better to stop the ball in. we'd been on top all game and it gave them a route back into it.

tin foil hat conspiracy theory time...maybe ned has been walking around all billy big bollocks during the week assuming he was starting today and unai wanted to bring him back down to earth.
