villa4europe Posted Saturday at 18:47 Share Posted Saturday at 18:47 Kept it simple but at the same time I'm not sure he gave the ball away once Really calm, he's going to be key holding some leads this year
VillaAlex Posted Saturday at 18:53 Share Posted Saturday at 18:53 He's a much better player than the one with us before but that was obvious. Two games in a row he's come on a helped us get a bit better control. In Leicester it was different we lost control completely, today we had it but not in the right areas, and having the option to bring him on in place of Onana when chasing the game was hugely valuable.

maqroll Posted Saturday at 19:00 Share Posted Saturday at 19:00 The way in which Barkley left that ball off for Duran suggests that Duran does that kind of thing routinely in training.
maqroll Posted Saturday at 19:05 Share Posted Saturday at 19:05 Barkley was like a ship's rudder when he came on and provided exactly what Emery envisioned when we signed him.

Exactly what he is just steady retains possession well and protects the ball nothing spectacular on the eye but very effective.

AJG23 Posted Saturday at 19:19 Share Posted Saturday at 19:19 Just keeps things ticking over, nice and simple, but always with an eye for the killer pass.
Farlz Posted Saturday at 19:19 Share Posted Saturday at 19:19 Onana was having a bit of a honker so Barkley on at half time was a big improvement for us. Always wanted the ball and kept it ticking, very solid 45.

His best Chelsea season was under Sarri where he played deep too, we had him too advanced in his first spell. Great squad option to have now.
Caddy Posted Saturday at 19:23 Share Posted Saturday at 19:23 (edited) When you're playing the transfer market on ez modo it really doesn't matter if Chelsea can blow 200m a year on players they'll never use 5m, shrewd business plain and simple. And he's only 30, it's not like he's on his last legs, he could play this role for 3+ years easily if he keeps focus and fitness which he has in abundance now compared to his first stint 4 years ago Edited Saturday at 19:23 by Caddy
CVByrne Posted Saturday at 19:28 Share Posted Saturday at 19:28 (edited) He's a very calm experienced and talented player. Glad to see him having such influence over games off the bench. Two games in a row now. He was superb against Leicester 2 weeks ago. Must be nice having a coach like Emery ordering your signing. That's high praise in itself.
