penguin
Bit apprehensive about this one; huge money based on little more than a handful of appearances. But we really can't be starting a season with Nyland anywhere near our starting GK.

AvonVillain
Tom Heaton pretty dismayed by this signing according to reports (Mail). Understandable, as this puts him firmly in the #2 position. That's football though.
It's Your Round
Welcome Martinez! He looked outstanding for Arsenal post lockdown. It’s not a huge run of games to go on but enough to tell me he’s better than Nyland or Kalinic.

Edit: although I can empathise with his situation. It must be disappointing to see from his point of view. Smith has got to do what’s best for Villa though. ramshackler
We shall see. The guy has barely played for his whole career. For me it's a lot of money for a keeper who looked good in the last six months. Hope he's the real deal, but when Heaton is fit he'll have a real job to be number 1 (Martinez)

I like Heaton but Villa can't stand still, he will be No. 2 for a season and then move on I guess. PieFacE Posted September 12, 2020 VT Supporter Share Posted September 12, 2020 Feel for Heaton as he's a great keeper but we simply can't rely on Nyland and Heaton isn't ready yet. It is what it is.

Agitate for a January move perhaps.
Villaphan04
how long has he been at Arsenal? will he count as a home grown player?
sne
Hopefully his best years are in front of him becuase he's pretty much done nothing in his career so far. Club must have a lof of confidence in him to be spending that much. Hope it works out. Clocks in among the 10 most expensive GK signings of all time. 8th I think. useless
That reporter from the birmingham mail is just using guesswork to say that Heaton is 'taken back', wouldn't read anything into it.
