useless
No club has actually been punished for selling their ground, small heath have sold theirs twice, selling the ground in itself of itself isn't against the rules. Also us no longer being in the EFL makes no difference to the situation because the rules changed, if we'd have done something wrong we could have been punished after promotion. We totally flouted the rules for years under Xia and should have been punished. Our saving grace was Purslow, his knowledge of the rules enabled him to expertly circumvent them (helped enormously by getting promoted). The other clubs who did a ground sale have all fallen into hit water for the way it was done. No idea how we did it (or whether just lucky no longer in EFL) but hopefully it's a bullet dodged Well we mainly did it by not flouting the laws.

Sam-AVFC
The level of effort some random Bristol fan is going to in order to scrutinise our accounts years after we left the league is a bit sad. It's a shame he can't channel his efforts into something that's more likely to cheer him up.

ciggiesnbeer
Delighted to see Championship teams annoyed we got away with dodging ffp. Maybe instead of complaining they should dodge them as well or campaign to have ffp abolished. The Championship is a financial disaster area and thats entirely because the league and clubs in it have failed to generate revenue and manage their costs. Sell online tickets, cut your own costs dont go hiring rookie managers and it can be fine. Be like Brentford not Derby. I hope the penny drops with clubs down there. Nobody cares when you cry about ffp. If you dont like it, get around it till it gets abolished or you know, cut your costs like every other business. VillaChris
4 hours ago, sidcow said: No. Quote In a statement today, an EFL spokesman said: “The EFL has completed its review of the change of control application made by Aston Villa Football Club. “The Club and its shareholders are required to comply with a number of financial reporting requirements moving forwards. “The EFL can further confirm that the Club is not subject to a registration embargo.” Earlier today we reported how the club were hoping to announce their first signing of the summer this week after the EFL relaxed their recent scrutiny over the club. It’s understood that Villa were operating under a ‘soft’ transfer embargo following investigations into the club’s finances. Boss Steve Bruce has been unable to register any new players because of the previous money problems under Tony Xia. It was only two months ago that Villa missed a tax payment and there were serious concerns of administration following a struggle to pay other bills. But the recent change of ownership has helped ease any financial fears and Villa are now close to finding a solution for their problems. We signed that keeper from Atletico Madrid a week later, whatever happened to him? Percy also reported it at the time and he said our main target then was Ben Woodburn on loan from Liverpool so exciting times back then! Last season failing to get a game at Blackpool in league one. VillaChris
Just now, sidcow said: But we didn't break any rules and were not punished, fined, given points deductions. That's not what I was saying, we were restricted in signing players that summer just like half the championship are now apparently. Quote Ten Championship clubs were placed under transfer embargo at the same time — with concerns growing that some second-tier outfits are facing ‘financial Armageddon’. Sportsmail can reveal that late last month, almost half of the league was subject to a registration ban in a bombshell discovery which has led to claims the integrity of the competition has been seriously undermined. Clubs have clashed with the English Football League on the grounds of timing, after Government guidelines stipulated that it is now possible for companies, including football clubs, to extend the deadline with which to file company accounts by three months. It has emerged that the EFL has opted not to mirror this extension period, leaving a host of clubs on a collision course with the football body regarding late submission of their respective accounts. The clubs in question were Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City, Coventry City, Derby County, Huddersfield Town, Luton Town, Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke City. A transfer embargo of any kind dosen't suggest everything is running 100% and of course we knew that with not going up and everything crashing down around how Xia had structured it all. Thankfully everything got sorted out quickly otherwise 18/19 would've been an incredibly desperate season fighting to not go down to league one given the state we were in run up to that season.
