Sturgeon and Truss have not done women in politics any favors either, two bottom of the barrel people that managed to fail upwards. Scotland will never leave now, she has managed that I suppose. @tonyh29 I will watch and laugh at her for you it's probably best for her health that she's stood down , all the pressure of the job was making her a bit Krankie Edited February 15, 2023 by tonyh29
Popular Post chrisp65
Understandable, but a shame. A politician that actually believed in something bigger than lining her pockets or getting the focus group admin sorted. An actual progressive, with policies such as the baby boxes and younger voting age.

Mark Albrighton Posted February 20, 2023 VT Supporter Share Posted February 20, 2023 Report of a senior member of Kate Forbes’ campaign team for SNP leadership expressing disappointment that she may have derailed her campaign on day one after saying she wouldn’t have voted for same sex marriage. “she has ****ed it” is apparently the quote from the member of her team. Never ever fall for the idea that the SNP are some sort of utopian progressive party, they aren't. They are a raggle taggle amalgamation from across the political spectrum based around a single issue. They can be very Tory, whilst others can be quite left wing I'm not sure why her campaign team think she's f***ed it either, they must be under the illusion that Scotland outside Glasgow is also seething bed of socialism, it isn't
The Fun Factory
All the candidates look dreadful. If Labour can't fill their boots after this they have no chance of getting back into power UK wide.

Huff Post Well for me personally, I said Sturgeon was a progressive, not the SNP. The SNP is a broad church of people that see separation from the UK as sufficiently important to make other beliefs secondary. Just the same as Plaid, the party I would vote for. I think that’s a given for it’s core support. Yes there are other parties if you really cannot stomach voting for someone that’s further left, right, up, or down to your detailed views. But voting Alba or Gwlad is even less likely to deliver what you want. I wouldn’t doubt for a second that the freedom of Scotland would lead to a potential break up of the SNP in to groups with more traditional left, right, conservative, progressive, green aims.
Amsterdam_Neil_D
The SNP leadership contest is interesting. A few claims that I sound really good on the TV. Ash Regan says Scotland would only need to rely on pound sterling 'for a couple of months', Scotland would have its own currency in a few months, how would this be achieved ? How much to start a currency and how to actually start its own, sounds super easy, couple of months. I am not so sure but maybe its super easy ? I suspect English tax payers will fund it but there is a website that suggests Scotland will create its own Scotchland reserve bank , but the timeline is more than "months" Thursday 7th September, 2023 Scotland votes Yes in a second Scottish independence referendum. Monday, 2nd October, 2023 The Scottish Government introduces the Scottish Reserve Bank (Establishment) Bill into Holyrood, Stage 1. 2024 The Scottish Reserve Bank Act receives Royal Assent. The new bank occupies the old Royal High School Building in Edinburgh. The Bank's President and Directors are appointed. December 2025 Banks start to post new Scottish Currency bank cards and cheque books to clients.
